I am about to go crazy.
My apartment complex is pretty old, built in the 60s. The plumbing is peculiarly loud, but that's not the problem.
For about 16 hours now, there has been a pulsing sound coming from the plumbing, as if my neighbor was turning the water on and off every couple seconds or so. It kept me awake last night, since it seems to be coming from inside my bedroom wall.
Normally I wouldn't have brought this up, but I figured there may be a seasoned plumber in here to explain what this could be. Surely my neighbor isn't actually twisting faucet knobs till the cows come home, but the best explanation I can come up with is that their toilet is running. I need to get some work done.

Sounds to me like the toilet is slowly leaking and then filling up again.

I suggest you call the maintenance. It could be indicative of a problem they want to fix before it becomes a bigger problem.

I used to have neighbors upstairs and it sounded like they were moving furniture 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Drove me nuts!

It's probably Apple trying to wiretap your apartment to see if you're posting on Mac message boards.

Go next door and ask them about it. Chances are they are thinking the same about you... "What is that guy doing next door?"
:/
Or, Apple tapping your phone.

Ok, so I didn't do a good job switching nicks. I give up.
Thankfully Apple can't tap my phone because I don't have one. A college student with a cell has no need for a home phone.
