Woah. This album has blown me away. I got it yesterday, and it's freakin incredible. I'd say it's even better than the first one, which I put on a very high pedestal. What I think is so cool about it is that you can listen to it from the beginning to the end, without it sounding repetative or uninteresting, it's like every song htey're doing something totally different, yet still 'different' from the mainstream enough to still be gorillaz songs. Songs like "Fire in the monkey's head" are just... wow.
What do you guys think?

I like it more than the first, which just sounded contrived to my ears. I dig the production, some tracks just beg you to turn them up loud. It's more... i dunno... loose.

i heard that it is a concept album and they used the production guy that is famous for ripping off the beatles and jay-z.

A side project doesn¹t usually hit gold, especially when said project is a quirky virtual collective fronted by cartoon characters. But the first, self-titled album by Gorillaz--the brainchild of illustrator Jamie Hewlett and Blur frontman Damon Albarn--actually hit platinum and turned into a surprise worldwide hit. Naturally expectations were a lot higher for Gorillaz's sophomore effort, but Demon Days actually is even better than its predecessor. With producer Dan "the Automator" Nakamura gone, Albarn, a.k.a. 2D, has paired up with DJ Danger Mouse (responsible for the infamous Grey Album that illegally mixed the Beatles and Jay-Z) to steer the musical ship, while a whole new slew of guests enlivens the proceedings. Albarn has described Demon Days as being darker, but there's a real kooky dance-party vibe coursing through the CD. Despite its somber tone, "Kids with Guns" is lifted by a killer bass line, for instance, while the catchy first single, "Feel Good Inc," is augmented by an appealing contribution from De La Soul. Other noteworthy guests include Roots Manuva and Tricky collaborator Martina Topley-Bird on the dubby "All Alone" and Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder on the bouncy "DARE." And yet it's a 69-year-old actor who gets to deliver the most baffling contribution--just listen to Dennis Hopper's spoken-word narrative on "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head."

I bought their first CD. Hated it. I don't think I even made it through to the last track. If I didn't like their first CD, might I stand a chance of liking this one?

Yes this is a great album. Oh and Ca$h, DMB is my favorite band. Do you have stereotype for me?
This is different than their first CD, but I truly love their first CD.

I'll second on "Dare", "Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head". "Feel Good Inc." is good, but I appreciated it more after hearing it several times. Don't see much to "White Light", though, but I guess that one in particular is just not my style. Their animated alter-egos add to their image and charm, if you will.

This new one has the funkiest sickest basslines I've heard in a long while. If you listen to it with an open mind, I don't see how you couldn't dig it unless you lack ... soul... or something like that. This is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Ever.

Yep. You're brainwashed by MTV into thinking that an overweight bald fat guy who sings like a goose is somehow a good singer for an otherwise rockin' band.

Nah, you like that because of the rythms and neat synth sounds that you aren't used to hearing.

Go listen to Roundabout by Yes. Best bassline…ever. No competition. Better than the ones for Money, Badge, and Taxman. Then again, Chris Squire is the greatest rock bassist ever.
Ca$h is in da hizzle.

About every song on Gorillaz: Gorillaz is a hit. I'd say Tomorrow Comes Today is my favorite.
Space Monkeyz vs. Gorillaz is basically a remix of Gorillaz: Gorillaz. It is really good, also.
They also have a B-Sides album appropriately named G-sides.

Not bad suvsr4terrorists, good photography also. And Demon Days is truly a great album, it really grows on you after listening to it for a little while. It definitely would be good to listen to while under the influence of___________ (put favorite substance here).

Been listening to it for about a month now. It really makes an excellent party CD to have on in the background.
Last Living Souls and Dare are my favorite tracks. The first album was good IMO, but this one is waaay better.

I changed my mind. Dirty Harry is a super ultra delicious groove. Oh Green Earth is good, but Dirty Harry is sick.
