For nearly the last two and a half hours there have been reports on BBC News and Sky News of a major security operation in Birmingham city centre. Reports are that something in the region of 30,000 people are being evacuated.
The entire centre of the city (inside the inner ring road) is closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic according to reports.
There is still very little firm information - unconfirmed reports of controlled detonations. Just being reported now that the area being evacuated has just expanded - the BBC West Midlands building (the Mail Box) has now been cleared.
None of the news channels seem to have any pictures yet which I find slightly odd.
I'm really hoping that after London that this is just a major precaution.
