So I've had the same hair cut for... I dunno... 23 years? And I think it's time for a change. Unfortunately, I have no clue whatsoever would even look remotely decent on top of my head. Here's some visual evidence of the situation:

Me out on the town.

Me out in the sun.

Me at a baseball game.

As you can see in the baseball pick, My "poofy" hair goes way high in the wind. This becomes a huge problem when I'm running. It's still over a month till I go back to school, so I can be somewhat creative without the fear of having to show it my students if it doesn't turn out that well. I'm fully ready for fun photoshop mock ups so people can get out their sh*t's and giggles on my behalf - no worry, I have little pride to damage anyway

Thanks!

Go to a guy who really knows what he's doing and leave it up to him. I'm talking over $100 good. You won't be sorry in the long run. Really good cuts last a lot longer, they grow out better.

Shave it off. Leave 1/16 of an inch. That's it.

First off, fix your eyebrows.

Secondly, don't cut it. Just let it grow out. I haven't gotten a haircut in...eh... 5-6 months sometime, and so far it's been great. People keep saying how they like it so much better, and in the bars, I get attacked sometimes, which is odd, but good at the same time.

You serious? Or are you just saying you need a change without really meaning you will make one?
In order of cost and also quality:

Bob $135 But if you go to Maxines make an appointment with Kim Stone after your haircut so she can finish your new look by grooming your face.

Melissa $70 She is insanely hot BTW and has cut my hair for the past 5 years when I was home and since I moved back to the city. There's also a guy named Charles Lord who is supposed to be the best of the best, as in worked for celebs and sh!t, but he charges somewhere in the $300 range.

Siren salon $40 The cheapest of the three I would go to but its still a decent place. Have the owner do your cut though.

I pay $14 for my haircut, and I think that's too expensive.

Shave? That is just a bad idea. If you think having them waxed is a little too gay then find someone who does Threading. http://www.hairfacts.com/methods/threading.html

You get what you pay for. People around here could buy a $600 PC but choose to drop 2K on a Powermac instead. I don't pay more than $50 but that's because I got grandfathered in to the girl's old rate since I have been going to her for years before she increased her prices.
But if I was in a wedding or had some other important event I don't think it would be out of line to pay $150 to look better than good.

Go to Meijers, Target, etc., get a Wahl home haircutting kit (about $30), put the #1 or #2 attachment on, and buzz it off. Repeat every 4 weeks or so, and save yourself a fortune on haircuts.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Let me repeat ...

Go to a good salon and pay for a good haircut. Taking Internet advice about haircuts is like taking Internet advice about medical/legal issues.

I had my haircut on vacation once while in Las Vegas. It was in the barber shop at the Monte Carlo Casino. It was $40 and he did it in about 4 minutes. Best haircut I ever had.

He actually remarkably already looks like Spike. Just needs to ditch the glasses.

I think the glasses need to go. They make you look too 'white'. >shrug<

But yeah, let your hair grow and hack at it with scissors. Spike gets the ladies.

High and tight.

I go to a barber who is a former Marine. You tell him what you want as a haircut, he listens and nods, all the while appraising your head as if he's figuring how to do what you're telling him. Then he just cuts it high and tight. I think it's all he knows.

^^ This man is correct. Let it go.

Further prescription:

• Don't lose the glasses. Simply change them for a squarer model (this shape but with thinner surround) and have them made with a grey tint lens - as dark as you can handle.

• Stop smiling so much.

• Work out a bit.

• Don't fix the eyebrows unless you're gay (seriously).

= you'll have to beat the ladies off. Trust me.
If it doesn't scare hippies, it's not worth listening to

Grow your hair, but no spike ****. I was growing it out, but my bastard uncle forced me to get a haircut, which made it a mullet, since the 'barber' didn't cut the back. I did that myself. It's getting longer. I like it better that way, but I have goofy hair, so it looks worse the shorter it is. Just make sure that the back is not very long if ya grow it out. I think everyone would look better with shaggy hair. But skinheads should keep shaving their heads, as to make it easier to identify for ridicule.

BTW, I just got contacts. Took me 2 hours in the store to get em on, but I can't stand glasses, so it's worth it.

I like! I'm probably going to get new frames anyway.

• Stop smiling so much.

• Work out a bit.
You suggest that from my head shots? I'm a marathon runner dammit! Okay, I could use more upper body muscle...

• Don't fix the eyebrows unless you're gay (seriously).
Whew....

(Another)Female perspective: really cheap haircuts look like -
well ... really cheap haircuts.
Treat yourself to one of the stylists #'s you were given and
yes .... the brows could use a pluck here and there.
If they do a shave and manicure too you won't regret it.
Funny how a great haircut makes a big difference.
Do it before the next big Marathon.
The ladies will love it.

Note: this opinion is coming from someone who is probably
your Moms age.
Note to all you other guys: quit shaving your heads and
wearing baggy drawers already. You probably have nice hair
and a great fanny - strut your stuff boys.

Yeah, putting a bit more on (rather than taking it off) was what I was thinking. You look pretty slim from the head shots - I guess if you're a marathon runner then this would be the case.

Unless you have a very oddly shaped skull, nothing beats the good old buzz cut:
  • convenient (no blow dryer, gel or other bs)
  • always appropriate (whether you're wearing a suit, jeans or sweats)
  • cheap (no more $$$ to hair stylists, the perfect DIY hair style)
  • environmentally friendly (less shampoo, electricty, blah, blah, blah)

Get one of these ...

with ceramic or titanium blades, set the distance thingamajingie to 2 mm (or so) and shave it all off. Repeat every 4 weeks and you're set for the next 23 years.

...

You must not be from the US. A fanny in the US is the buttock/butt/ass. While a fanny in the UK is a vagina.

Til then, just get some of those 60s style dork glasses, kinda like weezer. I think they're cool. They'd look good on you... you know, the ones with the black frames.
