Hey guys,

I was wondering what RSS Feeder/News Aggregator people use?

Here's the catch: I have to use this for both home and work, and my work computer is unfortunately a PC. Therefore, as much as I'd like to use a mac-based program, I cannot do it at work, and will probably need to use a web-based client.

I was using Bloglines, but, unfortunately, it only scans for stories each hours. My job calls for immediate response, and I can't afford to wait an hour.

Any ideas?

Also, if there's a REALLY kickass Mac program, I suppose I can use a mac-based at home, and a web-based at work. But that'd be really, REALLY annoying.

Thanks guys - you all rock, and have rocked for quite some years.

- Brad

There are several threads on this in the Applications forum. Just do a search for RSS reader and you should find all the info you need.

You know....I'm not looking for an application. I'm looking for a website.

Thank you.

All web based services will have a build in delay. If you need an immediate update then a dedicated reader is the best best. Does Firefox allow to share bookmarks? That might solve your problem.

For the PC, use FeedDemon.

And for the Mac, use Netnewswire.

Out of curiosity, what is this job which demands instant response to RSS feeds? Checking more than every half-hour or so is considered very rude by most Webmasters, and some will even ban readers who check too often. Does your job take this into account?
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

As long as you use a RSS client that implements HTTP Conditional Get, you can check as often as you like without blowing the provider's bandwidth (200 bytes per query).

And I believe many web based readers (well, BlogLines anyway) use a local cache.
