With summer ending I am looking to check out alternatives to buying textbooks from the school bookstore. I was wondering where everyone here bought them and which sites had the best prices.

I have some friends that have had good luck with eBay, but I don't know of any exclusive online textbook retailers off hand.
What is your field of study? I'm a physio major and the NIH has had a lot of my text books actually online in their entirety for free. That was pretty cool.

www.amazon.com.
I've sold about $600 in textbooks on there, it's great. Great prices, and nobody screws you over.

Also try amazon.co.uk. I bought a lot of high level Economics and Finance books for about half off from the UK. In fact, in one of the courses the prof told us to do this becaues it would save so much money for the students.

If I buy a half dozen books from various people and they all tack on shipping charges it cancels out a good portion of that I was trying to save.
I have bought from the regular Amazon store before and those shipping prices are fair and fixed but when buying used am I stuck paying each shipping cost separately?

Buying a $50 used text book for $25.00 with a $3 shipping charge is still cheaper. By a lot.

I've also used http://bargainbookstores.com/ in the past. Their selection is limited but they have some awesome deals on brand new books (e.g., I got a $30 book for $6).

I get a lot of my books (esp. more obscure ones) from Barnes and Noble online.
