so anyway, the dream I just had goes something like this:

I'm dozing on the couch (in my dream, in reality I'm in bed). My wife walks up to me holding a bucket of spiders. I'm talking an assortment of black widows, recluses, tarantulas, etc. She dumps it on me, saying "hold these."
I, of course, start screaming and thrashing. She says "I'm going to go make some tea, I'll be right back."
At this point, my wife shook me awake. Apparently, I was screaming/thrashing in my sleep. I shoved her away from me (she HAD just tried to kill me). She kicked me until I was fully awake, at which point I apologized. Looked at the clock, the alarm was set to go off in about half-an-hour anyway, so I decided to get up early.

Now, I would feel bad for shoving my wife, but she has kneed me in the groin before after semi-waking up from a dream about me cheating on her.

I was dreaming once that I was in a car on the train tracks and a train was coming... I actually opened the door in my dream, and rolled out of the car, (Actually rolled out of bed, incredibly quick) my wife freaked... I missed our glass table by a hair, and landed on the wood floor...

It was weird. She was laughing her ass off when I told her about the dream.

I occasionally go through periods in which I, pretty much every night, have insanely bizarre dreams. They're so strange that even if I remember the whole thing when I wake up I can't even being to explain what happened and mostly just feel confused.

I find that reading Lovecraft before going to bed tends to get rid of these and give me more normal dreams.

Me too, but there's a point when enough is enough and you'd rather not wake up every morning feeling confused.

Too much time without sleep, and then the problems begin. I once stayed up for 12 days consecutive. Trust me when I say, your subconcious will demand sleep, even when you think you are awake, doors open up that should be closed when you are awake.

I think it's a world record, but I could be wrong. No whitnesses. The last person to even aproach that, was I think 11 days, and he went insane and was never really the same. BTW: No food, only water...

That was 8 years ago, and something that will never be repeated.

I like to pride myself on having a lot of really screwed up dreams from time to time. Usually a time in my life where I am at some sort of crossroads of self-realization, but anyways. My freaky-est dream goes as such.

This was THE most realistic and intense "lucid" dream I've ever had. I woke up in cold sweats with all my blankets and pillows on the ground.

I awoke with a terrible pain in my tooth, I was very dizzy and I had trouble opening my eyes, it seemed like reality but it was still very dream like. I stumbled to the bathroom to brush my teeth, maybe that would dull the pain. I sloppily brushed my teeth until my eyes were to heavy to keep opened.

I awoke again in my bed but my tooth was fine. At this point I am awake as far as I know. I come out of my room to go tell my roomate about my screwy tooth dream. And he is sitting on the L shaped couch in the living room, but on both sides of the L shaped couch and with his hat pulled down so far his face appears to be black. I then exclaim aloud "Holy crap, I am still dreaming!" To which the double Aarons replied in a voice that seared into my head, "Yeah you are." Then he laughed, but the laughter became like the sound of a static TV turned up. The room shook violently as he laughed/buzzed...though it only lasted a few seconds.

I forced myself awake, at least, I tried. Although I was terrified I still couldn't force myself to wake. I know I am dreaming and I don't know whats coming next, so I decide to take action. I run out of my room and grab my roomate and leap through the bay window, at this point I wasn't much scared but delighted at this insane scenario.

After I hit the ground I awake again. But in a pitch black room laying down in a white couch. On the opposing corner of the ceiling lies another me in another white couch. I close my eyes, trying to force myself awake. No dice. I open my eyes again only to realize my arms are made of clear, almost active-cammo-like, material that distorts my face when I pass my clear limbs in front of it.

Then I jolted awake and the rest is history. I layed down to take a nap and the intense dream was a result. In fact most of my dreams that are of this nature occur during "naps" or short stints being asleep.

Sleep dep. was in full swing for that time too. My schedule was all over the place and I would frequently get 2 hours of sleep for weeks.

Then the cool dreams started kicking in hardcore. I'd be asleep for 15 minutes and then I'd be awake, but not really awake, just trapped between consciousness and unconsciousness. It sucked, but was cool at the same time.

my favorite dream was a few years ago when i was still in high school. I had my alarm set early because i needed to talk to a teacher or something before class. I dreamt that i had slept through my alarm and woke up an hour late. I turned to my clock to check the time and it asks me if i want to go back in time and wake up early. "Of course" I reply. So back to real life I end up waking up 5-10 minutes before my alarm goes off.

Wow. Just wow. I went 4 days once. Started seeing things and thinking things that just weren't right. In the end I didn't fall asleep so much as my mind shut down and went to sleep without concious effort on my part.

I had a pretty funny dream...kinda gross though, so skip my post if you're offended by grossness. I had a really bad concussion at the time, so I have an excuse.

I dreamed my roommate and I were watching TV, when he out of the blue drops his drawers, pops a squat, and takes a #2 in the middle of the floor. Apparently, in my dream this wasn't out of the ordinary, as I wasn't fazed by it at all. Then the mess starts growing, until it's the size of the room. Then it takes a blobby form (think: the blob from the movie Evolution), and starts chasing me around town.

I wake up totally screaming and dripping sweat. I mean, I was completely petrified. My girlfriend was freaked out, but when I told her what happened in my dream, she couldn't help but bust out laughing.

On another note, have you ever incorporated environmental sounds into your dream? My alarm clock gets put into my dreams quite often. Usually, it's a smoke detector or something. Occasionally, someone will be talking to me in a dream, and all of a sudden they'll just stop talking and start balking "BAH BAH BAH BAH" until I slowly wake up and realize it's my alarm.

The only way I was allowed to sleep was with medication. It took me 3 days to recover from the lack of sleep and food, and then another 3 or so years to contemplate what I did to myself. Sleep deprivation opens up avenues to our subconcious, some we'd rather not travel down, and others that actually may enlighten us as to quite a few things... I do recall watching television and freaking out because I thought I could understand different languages... Still not too sure I couldn't at the time. I always thought if you gave your subconcious a problem it could solve it, the only problem lies with getting the answser back in tact.

I'm the same way, weird dreams routinely.
