Didn't the same thing happen with Watson?

"Yahoo! Inc. on Monday will announce the acquisition of Konfabulator, a Macintosh and Windows application that allows users to run mini files known as Widgets on their desktop -- the same model used by Apple for its Dashboard application. Yahoo! company executives said they would also be giving Konfabulator away for free, completely doing away with the US$19.95 currently charged for the product."

Luckily for me, Apple already gave me a entirely better product for free...

However, I suppose this is good. Now Arlo Rose can stop complaining about how he got "copied", he got some money from Yahoo from his idea, maybe he'll GASP! get a new idea and move on...

Good to know... that something that I found really useless has been acquired by a company who I tend to ignore.

Very interesting. From the way the article sounds, it looks almost as though Yahoo is looking for an engine to write cross-platform apps. At the same time, I'm forced to ask: if this is the case, why Konfabulator? It's not really engineered for that sort of thing.

The reason I never used Konfab for a long period of time, is the same reason I never used Kaleidoscope, or SS.

The problems they cause, outweigh the benefits.

Buggy with apps, memory leaks.. etc.

yahoo just wants a way to display all their data in desktop do-hickeys... that's fine and prob smart.

even free, still don't give a frack about konfab ever since he cried over and over "apple ripped me off"

prob. ended up with more stock options due to the whole fracas. he should be thanking apple.

konfabulator was incomplete until Apple... never really liked it until it was added as a feature of the OS.

Oh, Yahoo bought it. I guess they were serious when they said they were going to stop developing it for Apple.

Yahoo's "dedication" to the Mac platform is as apparent as Sony'd "dedication" to bringing all their Station games to the Mac... like... uh... Everquest Mac Edition... that doesn't work with anything else. And I think that's it. Oh wait, they have some Java games like Tic-Tac-Toe and Checkers. I'm sure Mac users have been dying to get in on the Tic-Tac-Toe action.
