It's time for our fourth year of MacNN Fantasy Football. I am shocked I have been doing this four years already.

Last year dcolton won the whole thing, so I hope he'll come back this year to try again.

RandSackers will be back for another go. Thanks for setting this up, I was just thinking it's about that time of the year.

If there's enough interest, why not try both leagues? Yahoo's is reliable (the only reason I keep a Yahoo account) but if ESPN's is free ...

I wonder if we can get the mods to give the eventual champ a title for the year ('NN FF Champeen) or something.

What I am personally going to do is have the MacNN league be one, and then I am going to setup another league using the other for a) diehard MacNNers who want 2 teams and b) family/friends/people who read my web log.

As far as the title, that'd be sweet. Anyone else have thoughts on that?

Oh what the heck, I'm already gonna be in 2 leagues this year, might as well make it 3.

Let me know when signup is and how you do the draft.

I run my own league and won't have time for another. BUT, if you're in the market for a kick-butt fantasy league setup, the fantasy football commisioner offering at http://football.sportsline.com is the best I've used.

It's $130 for a league, and it sounds like this league here is a freebie league. However, if any of you run a league where money is involved, definitely check out SportsLine's commissioner.

Your draft is set for Mon Aug 15 9:30pm CDT

We can change the draft date if needed, but I got as late in the day as possible to reduce the number of conflicts we might have.

Rules negotiations can go on until the draft begins I believe. if you don't like the scoring or anything else, let's fix it. :-)

Any chance a mod could sticky this until the middle of august?

Stupid Yahoo gave me two teams, one with an s and one without.

Tikki, as commish, can you delete the one without an s? If not, if someone wants to join, we can set the ghost team as theirs (including changing the name).

Gee, I feel like Homer Simpson a keyboard right now.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Randsacker = axed.

In other news, we have six teams so far. 14 slots remain. :-)

If we're going to have that many, shouldn't the teams be smaller?

20 people won't join. If they do, i'll drop the W/T and W/R positions. We've never had more than ten.

So how does the online draft work? How long does it usually take?

I fail to see the fantasy in all this. Perhaps I am too much of a realist. Either that or I find football boring and stoopid. Ifact, it is both. Game On.

You show up at the yahoo web site at the alloted time and launch the draft app (it's java based I believe). Yahoo sorts all the teams randomly to set the draft order. Then you start picking players in order.

It usually takes an hour to hour and half depending on the number of people who show up to live draft.

In what might be the worst move ever, the miami dolphins defense was the first pick overall. I think we should have football competency quizzes next year before you get entry. :-)

What happened? I missed the draft. Couldn't get out of work early enough. A defense was selected first? By choice? If autofill, there should be a do-over.

I don't know if it was an autofill. The drafter didn't say it was a mistake when the pick was made, despite a couple of comments from the rest of us.

Well, I screwed up and went to work instead of sticking around for the draft. Good luck to the participants.

It wasn't a mistake. He is just an idiot and justified it by saying "The Dolphins are my favorite team."

I guess being good at Madden is not grounds for being good at fantasy football.

So Commish, who looks like the front runner with their draft. (I know it's early)

Smooth Riders & Killas look pretty good with their current starting lineups. VitsBruschis also looks good.

I don't know. Brees has a good TE and WR, but LT may take away some of his TDs.
If Holmes stays healthy he'll get ya points, and I think Jackson's gonna have a breakout year.

Update: The ESPN league looks pretty interesting. They went free this year.

Probably not enough interest to start a second MacNN league, but if anyone's interested ...

if you throw together a league, I'd join just to see if I like it better for next year's macnn fantasy game.

in response to who I think has the best team, I think Smooth Criminals is going to do pretty darn well.

League MacNN has been created. It's a 10-team, public league. Standard rules, autopick draft (to keep things easy).

I'm in! See what happens when you create a public league? Any idiot can join.

Seriously, I was bummed when I missed the draft and was cut from the first league. Thanks for creating this one.

Can we get 10 MacNNers to join a second league? I'm all for that, but I have questions.

Go to public league and search for MacNN. Then you'll be guided through the process. Pretty easy.

I figured it out. It's pretty stupid that there's no way to join from the league's home page.

Honestly, this is the first week I really thought to check. I did a bunch of pick-ups. We'll see how next week goes when I go against the scoring GIANT!
