I like just about any apple. Red and Golden Delicious are better for cooking than eating, but Fuji, Granny Smith, and Empire are great for both. I LOVE winesaps for eating under a tree in September when the breeze is starting to get cool...
My family used to go to a cider mill in the fall and tour the grounds and the mill, then we'd get cider so fresh it was still warm from the press, and FRESH doughnuts and go run around among the trees. THAT is fall to me...

Your words paint an amazing visualization for the senese!
I love pre-Halloween, when we go around to the various farms and look at pumpkins, drinking cider, the crisp cool wind, the beautiful colors, and of course FRESH donuts!!! I love fresh donuts....

I agree with your list. Making me hungry for an apple!

I prefer Granny Smith because they have a natural sour taste to them...
Golden Delicious for cooking def
and if I am going to pick up some red apples for work or a picnic I would go for the Fuji.
But deff Granny Smith. YUM

My friend down in Kewanee IL, had some Pear Trees and Granny Smith Apple Trees. They were awesome right off the tree! They also had rubbarb (sp) ... yuk.
The fellow behind them used to make shrunken heads out of the apples... weird dude...
Apples and Pears oh My!!! Great stuff. Love that tart/sweet taste. YUM, and crunchy too.

I don't do apples by themselves. Apple pie is all good though. Anyway, if I was starving, I'm sure I would not turn them down. But, if I have choice, no apples. It's all about bananas for me. Bananas own!

I got McD's apple pies and coffee last night. For fast food, they do pretty good pies. Nothing like home made, of course, but it beats the heck out of going without...
