I keep hearing a song in my brain that I recall maybe from the past 10 years that goes something like:
"Who are all these people, watching me everyday...
(something something something)
Time to get away..."
It has a sorta hip hop beat but a slightly dark feel, and I'm thinking it's a group and not a single artist, a white group not a black group.
I don't think it is "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell, but it sorta has that feel.
Anyone able to help me out here?

What words are you certain of?
Using "Time to get away" people lyric will get you 732 hits on Google that may have the answer for you.

I was hoping to avoid that.
I'm not sure of any of the words now that you ask. Sorry. Is there such a thing as online virtual staff paper where you can write the beat using drum notation (I was a HS percussionist) and then copy the URL and post it here like an img?
Oh, forget it.
But thanks for trying!

You managed to screw up just about all of the info, but the song is "Rumors" by Timex Social Club. It was a big hit in 1986. There was also a parody called "Roaches." The song has a very convoluted history, which includes the formation of the group Club Nouveau (who later scored hits with "Lean on Me" and "Why You Treat Me So Bad").
You're welcome.

OH LAVAR78!!!!
Man, have you rescued me from a limbo I've NEVER before experienced! Yes, it IS Rumors. Yes, I DID screw up the info. But THAT'S all I had to work with. I could hear the beat and the melody of the stanza and a few of the words and this is the FIRST TIME EVER that I didn't have a better handle on a song I wanted to buy!
That you were able to nail it with such scant info, well...I'm in AWE! You ROCK, man!!!
Thanks soooooo much!

Uh oh...I can't find either version on iTunes. Anyone know where I could pay a legitimate music service to download that song on my iMac? "Rumors" by Club Nouveau
Yeah, lavar78, I found a track to sample from BOTH versions and read the history and all and it's the Club Nouveau version I want.
Thanks again.
EDIT: I WANT JUST THAT SONG. The sites that had the sample tracks sell only the whole album.
EDIT #2: iSound.com allowed me to listen to it and download the Timex Social Club version for free!
I don't know WHY, but I'll find out.

Hey, no problem. Timex Social Club isn't on iTunes, so you can't download "Rumors" legally. Club Nouveau did an answer record to that one called "Jealousy" that is available.

Hey lavar78,
Man, I've been listening to the song all day long, about 10 times so far. And lest you wonder if someone is spreading rumors about me and that's why I like the song so much, well that's not it.
Quick story...
A few years ago I called Dick Bartley ("Solid Gold Saturday Night" a nationally syndicated radio show) requesting "Liar" by 3 Dog Night and "Liar, Liar" by the Castaways. He asked if I was sad about someone lying to me and I truthfully replied, 'No, I just like the way they sound and I'd never really understood the lyrics" so it was simply that these two similarly named songs have a sound that I like. He said the songs were just too depressing and said he was sorry he wouldn't play them.
I was miffed, not so much that I stopped listening to his show or anything like that. But miffed all the same.
Anyway, I feel the same about Rumors. I just like the beat and the tune.
Thanks again.
Oh and btw, I now have all three of the aforementioned songs in my iTunes app!

Glad you're enjoying it. That song reminds me of elementary school. Good times, good times...
Those were the days when the rumor about Michael Jackson (as mentioned in the song) was that he liked adult men.
