Any decent phone will have PDA features (calendar, address book, notes etc.), if you want a PDA phone, then probably a Treo 650, it might need the Missing Sync software though, as its Palm OS.

Series 60 phones such as the Nokia 6630 if your company offers it.

It looks like I need to choose from:
SE S710a
BlackBerry 7100g
Siemens SX66
palmOne Treo 650
Does anyone know how well these work with Mac? i would be willing to buy 3rd party software to get sync.

My Treo 650 works just fine with iSync. You can buy the Missing Sync if you want extra features (like iTunes and iPhoto integration).

I use a Treo 600 with my Mac and I love it. I've got my eye on a 650 now, but I'm trying to resist.

My brother just got the SE 710 and loves it. It's not a full-on PDA and it's pretty big, but it's an awesome phone with a beautiful screen. Works great with iSync, but he is having problems with bluetooth address boot integration- he can't dial from address book and the mac doesn't recognize the incoming caller ID.
I'm a big fan of the Treo 650 myself.

You make it sound like I'm the ONLY person with these problems. WHY DO YOU DENY THAT LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TREO?

I'm not trying to make it sound that way at all. Of course there are lots of people who have problems with the Treo. That goes the same for just about anything. AFAICT, the majority of people here and at TreoCentral like the 650, which is something you haven't acknowledged. I just think it's silly for you to call it "crap" when you know there are lots of people who don't have problems with it.
BTW, there is an update for Cingular now. If you get a Treo, I suggest you update it. Check the forums at TreoCentral.

I know. I was talking to the original poster while letting you know there's an update that might fix some of the problems you had.

Same here. Had my T600 for almost 2 years and it has been great. The 600 has been so good, in fact, that I have been able to avoid the urge to get a 650. And FWIW, of the 5 people I know that have 650's, none of them has had any problems.

Starman is repeating himself from the other thread.
Yes ... there are some folks with issues with the Treo 650 (as he points out ad nauseum). There are also folks that have problems with the SX66 (which he doesn't mention.)
The Treo 650 also has many fans without problems (I am one). The SX66 has many fans as well. (I have no problem with the device)
The Treo 650 can sync with iSync out of the box (you can purchase software for additional functionality). The SX66 requires 3rd party software to sync with your mac. I believe it probably works fairly well. (Starman can share his experiences in this matter).
If you have specific questions about either device post them here. There are many who will help answer them.
Note that Cincular also carries a Nokia Symbian based device (that someone mentioned earlier). I'm not sure how well the device syncs with the mac, but the PDA OS is decent. Blackberry is another option, especially if you are trying to sync with your corporate servers.

Yes, I'll share my experiences.
Driven is wrong. The Treo DOES NOT sync with iSync "out of the box". You have to install that God-awful Palm desktop, find the hidden checkboxes in the deep corners of your Mac, sacrifice a chicken, and THEN it'll BARELY work well. Oh, did you want your address book to sync properly? Won't happen...the fields don't match right.
Did I miss anything?

1) You install Palm Desktop.
2) You check "Sync with iSync" in Hotsync.
If this is difficult for you then I see why you are having so many problems with the device.

So you admit you're wrong.
More like:
Install Palm Desktop
Tell the Palm Desktop software that you want to use iSync. Of course, you have to know that ahead of time. If you don't, you're going to think that you installed it and it still doesn't work.
HotSync tells you that certain items won't sync with iSync so you have to turn them off.
Then you have to tell iSync to use HotSync to sync.
Then you start the sync on the phone, you can't start iSync on the Mac to sync.
Then, I THINK it'll work.
Oh, but there's that pesky issue with HotSync not putting certain address book fields in the right place. Of course it'll work with the Palm Desktop software, not iSync.
Again, did I miss anything?

Yep .... you explained alot about why you are having issues.
I did the two steps mentioned above and had no problems, and I never used a Palm device with the Mac before. Hmm ..... working problem free for 6 months or more now too.
It really isn't all that complicated. Not sure why you made it so.

The former is indeed a confirmed problem. The latter doesn't describe my experience or, judging from the lack of any replies in 2 weeks, the experiences of most others.

My vote is also for the Treo 650.
I've been using a Verizon Treo 650 for a few weeks now and haven't had any problems.
Bluetooth syncs with iSync just fine from my experiences. It has a nice sharp screen.

Would you guys quit this little pissing match?
Anyway, I have a Verizon Treo 650 and find it a delight. I use Missing Sync, never tried Palm Desktop.

Sadly, I don't think I should. For all of his ridiculous posts, I don't think he's really a troll. (Maybe I'm the last to know?) So, when he posts something that's wrong, I correct it. Besides, his "logic" is amusing. Unfortunately, he seems to be getting worse, so I guess I'll have to stop soon.

How am I wrong? I posted threads from treocentral.com showing that I'm not the only one with the problems, but you act like a child with their fingers in their ears going 'la la la can't hear you la la la'

If you can't be bothered to read for comprehension, I can't help you.

Count me as a Treo 650 lover. I upgraded from the 600 to 650, and there were/are stability issues with the 650, but the latest firmware updates have gone a long way towards addressing this. Alsmost all stability issues have to do with incompatible third party applications. Before installing anything, check it on the PalmFocus Software Compatibility List.
If you do get a 650, I will say the greatest feature is all the additional programs you can add. Just go slowly. Keep the phone as-is from the carrier for a week or two and see how stable it is. Once in a while you just get a dud and need to return it to your carrier, or Palm if you get it direct from them. Once you're convinced your phone is stable in it's original configuration, add apps one by one, taking a few days between each addition to watch your stability. Freezes are most common, but randon resets have happened as well. I get a random reset where the phone just restarts itself and goes through it's 30 or 40 second startup ritual maybe once or twice a week.
