BTW I recently found a pair of these in my Dad's tube collection.

New old stck "Mullard" EL34 tubes.

Radio Shack sold them as 6CA7s.

made in England.

Just slapped them in my Marshall.

Sounds great.

Get an MT-2 Metal Zone. You big girl.

Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

Those are in the effects loop.

I place the time based effects between the preamp and the power amp.

They sound less noisy in there.

The others go in front of the amp.

Guessing that Zimmy has an effects loop on his Marshall and that these pedals are plugged into that.

BTW Zim, what's the beast? JCM900?

Those. Really. Suck.

I use my 900s overdrive which is MORE than enough.

I use the compressor sometimes just to even things out.

Makes it a bit tighter without adding more overdrive.

No dude. They rocketh. Trick is to EQ them properly - EQ before the distortion boosting the mids and EQ after cutting the mids.

Any effect with the word "metal" or "zone" in the name means it sucks.

I dislike too much solid state overdrive.

Using a low distortion overdrive to smack a good tube amp into saturation is one thing...

But the metal zone is just TOO processes sounding.

I used to own one.

If you want that scooped mid metal sound, sure, it's killer.

But I don't want that sound. I don't even have a overdrive pedal in my signal path.

My Marshall has all the gain I need. And it goes to 20.

That is 10 more innit?

Fair enough. I like that sound. You don't. Each to his own. You big girl.

I have this SAME amp. I don't think that is a stack, because it would be taller than he is. But if it's a half stack, he is a short guy.

I am going today to hunt for some old preamp tubes.

I am sure Dad has some of those over there.
