Simple... how many *apple computers* are you directly responsible for the purchase of. This is: your purchases, people you -completely- swayed from windows to get a mac, relatives you buy for, etc. Just no "I told someone they were sweet, and they couldn't really decide but ended up with one.

My own two,
Paul's, Logan's, Cody's, Justin's, Ryan's, Lee's, Richard's.
Soon Danielle's, Jocelyne's, Parent's, and my own PowerMac... and possibly Matty's.
Can't think of any other people's Macs I really need to take care of... and most of those don't need my help much.
Paul's and Richard's I'm only really have responsible for, Richard had a few problems and lived in dorm, but I didn't switch him, his room mate did, but I knew more than Kevin (Add that, I knew more than the campus tech guy too ) so I helped. Richard's actually the guy who got the 512 stick of RAM Apple gave me for my PowerBook when my HD died... since I already had a stick I sold it to him for 100 bucks CND.

I was just curious of a few things....
1) Which users here had a mac or two.. and that was that
2) Which users influenced those around them
3) What the highest total was
I try to be #2, without being pushy, simply by displaying the power of the mac, my better friends have all made the switch!

Over the last 10 years, 15 personal users, and 60 for a school district. The school was getting Macs already but I was the advisor to which models to get.

We as a forum... I dono... I think some of our forum members would be responsible for people not getting Macs.
All I know is I'm currently walking through over MSN someone's plan for getting an iBook. That'll make two potentially three new iBook users at school this year. Haha we're gona flood the campus... to bad I won't be there...

No way. Apple sold almost 1.2 million macs in the last 3 months (Mar-Jun Qtr). Other than the off chance that one of those schools districts purchased last quarter, there's no way the board purchased or got people to purchase 6,000 machines in that period.

Should Apple give the forums some cash, kind of commission.
I'd say some of the people here would be better than some Apple Store staff.
Give us all discount Apple. Or even better, free macs.
I'll have a G5 with a huge cinema display.

Dude... all the Cinema displays are pretty huge.
And don't think I haven't tried to get into Mac sales! Frick I've had a bunch of people over the years ask me... do you work for Apple? Or, that I should really consider selling em. Sadly I can't even get hired at Best Buy (apply online, oh hey wait we require two freaking years of experience to work at a freaking best buy!). I've probably sold a good four of em this summer just by talking to people! Granted some of those have been in the works for years (One of them is a friend I've had since grade 7 who has also had a chance to play around on a friend's PowerBook and realize all these years I was right, she'll be ordering within the month.) I've got two guys getting iBooks from school this last year. As well potentially a third. Plus the two I switched this last year, as well as one who I didn't entirely switch so much as I peeked his interest by showing off mine at school.
Frick I'm a Mac sellling machine!

I bought 4.
I convinced 6 friends to buy one. Some of them even upgrade to a new Mac.
At work ( a 250 + Windows computers environment) I bought 1 G4, 5 G5, 1 X Serve and X RAID. It was quite a fight with the IT department but the X Serve is now the file server for our 13 PC based Avid systems and now almost Mac based graphic department. Funny enough, I did win my point by proving that the X Serve was cheaper than a Dell solution. The IT crew were shocked and since money talks, we went wit it.
I'm on the verge of convincing a deep hard PC power user, I know it doesn't count yet, but he evolved. He used to diss out Macs big time. The other day, someone was telling him about his multiples PC problems and he told him he should buy a Mac. I almost fell of my chair, he was serious, not sarcastic.

I'd say I'm responsible for 5, soon to be 6. The 3 I've owned (soon to be 4), a friend who purchased an eMac and another friend from work who purchased an iBook. Here's how it went for me and I'm not sure there's a way to sell them necessarily in this manner;
One bass-playing friend introduced me to a guitarist named Tom. (actual name not revealed) I'm a drummer. I found another guitarist to bring into Tom's home studio. Tom had a Macintosh Quadra. We produced a c.d. on it. I wanted to have a home studio with similar setup as Tom so I bought a tangerine iMac. Then the buying bug hit. I continued on to buy a 500mhz Tibook, then a dual 2ghz G5, and I'm about to buy my wife the 1.67ghz PB. The other guitarist (Matt) I brought into Tom's studio thought Tom's setup was cool too so Matt bought an iMac DV, then bought his wife a Tibook. I have people in my studio and CABOOM, two more people are buying Macs. They just have to see one, try one, feel one and... it's over. Before you know it they are multiple Mac purchasers.
I'm starting to think of giving up on Kirby sales and taking eMacs door-to-door baby!!! Before you laugh, I actually did sell two Kirby vacuums many, many years ago. Now I'm just a boring telecommunications engineer.
