Ok, there is a famous joke called 'The Aristocrats'. In fact a movie is coming out with mega comedians telling their versions of the joke. I guess the beginning and the punch line are the same but the middle can be embellished.
Well, as worldly as I am I've never heard it at all, ever!
Last nite I'm watching the Jimmy Kimmel show and the guy who made the movie is on. Blah, blah, blah and so on and the joke can get pretty raunchy for TV and he tells his version of the joke to Kimmel during the commercial break and when it comes back on he's giving the punch line and everybody is crapping their pants laughing.
Does anyone here know a version? This is the beginning and the end (always the same)...
From what I remember: >[the beginning ]<
"A man and his family go to a talent agent. The agent says ok what's your act?
Well it involves the entire family...my wife, the kids. the dog, the cat the grandparents...the whole family...
>[ the middle ]< censored.
>[ the punchline ]<
Agent: And what do you call yourselves?
The Man: The Aristocrats!
end.
Can anyone here make me more worldly?
TIA

I don't know any actually funny versions. I wonder what he said to Jimmy. Anyway, there's a nice list of various tellings here.

You're better off just seeing the movie. As some of the comedians have said, the joke sucks, but it represents an insider's joke in the comedy world that's been passed down since the vaudeville days. Because it essentially gives you free license to be as disgusting and absurd as you like, comedians generally perform the joke for each other and not in public, which is why the joke is kind of interesting. That said, the movie does have some pretty funny versions of the joke (like Gilbert Gottfried's).

Yeah...I can see why the Southpark guys say they don't get it.
Sounds like it's just an excuse to say the most awful disgusting things and and defend it as a joke.
Oh well...

I have a feeling it descends from a joke that was actually funny in context (probably a time when some aristocrats were known for incest and ridiculous decadence) that was gradually exaggerated and eventually lost its context altogether.
