Brian says (9:16 AM): I was looking at houses in Ottawa... I actually have a temptation in me to move
Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.

Ouch, that's nasty!
We had a controversial ad campaign against drunk and careless driving up here last year. You can see an example here. It's in Icelandic, but the message should come clear across even if you don't understand it.

I remember seeing those before. Also the one with the terrace with no railings.
Though that Little Midget one is pretty horrific too. Ouch.

im amazed at how real they made it, the dent on the car, the flying impact, the way the head bounces off the ground.

This one?
We received _a lot_ of complaints about it.

Yup, that one. I saw a few others as well, but I can only remember those two off the top of my head.
"We" received complaints? Were you involved in making them?

No, but I work for the Icelandic Traffic Directorate. If you want to take a trip down memory lane, here are all our commercials. Sorry for the Icelandic.
(I'm pushing it a bit saying "our", since I've only been working here for two months ).

Thanks, now I remember them all
What's the girl singing in Dáinn, though? I can only figure out parts of it...
“Litla smáinn [??? fáinn?]
???
Ertu dáinn útí bláinn
eins og þráinn sem ég bar”
What's the rest?

The entire text is:
Ertu dáinn,
útí bláinn.
eins og Þráinn
sem ég bar.
Ertu dauður
eins og sauður
elsku Auður
sem ég skar.
It's a nonsensical, but beautiful poem by Halldór Laxness, and fits eerily well in the context.
The song is by Atli Heimir Sveinsson.

I see nothing controversial (a little brutal, like the title says, and graphic). I see cold hard facts of life. Put the kid in a car and have him talking on the phone, and you'll have the reason people want to ban cell phone use in cars. Being distracted can get you killed.

Whoops, I forgot the first verse
Litla snáinn,
Lofi fáinn,
Lipurtáin,
Gleðinnar.
As I said before, it's nonsense .

Did I mention it's nonsense . And to make things worse it contains play on words, so it's nonsense that doesn't even translate well.
Beautiful nonsense though. It's peculiar how powerful words sometimes don't need meaning or context to be potent.

Pretty startling, but addresses a real problem these days with people walking around with their attention completely focused on their phones, especially in Japan. Can't tell you how many times you could just stop and have someone walk into you coming from the other direction because they were too busy messaging... often times, they would stop just short of running into you but not look up because they would be expecting you to move!

Most of the time its not so detailed as that. Some of the Icelandic ones for example, the car that hits the kid on the bike, no damage to the car at all at least I couldn't see any. I rewatched that one over and over, the dent of the car, the flying of the kid, the blood splater and the bouncing of the head. It was very very realistic. Most of the time these things are not. It was very well done.

"It only takes one moment without seatbelts.
Traffic is about lifes.
I understand the complaints, but I don't agree with them .
We also recieved a formal complaint from the Icelandic Centre for Gender Equality about something less obvious. The ads always depicted men as the irresponsible ones while women were always the concerned, responsible ones.

Inside joke. It's a new neighbourhood in Reykjavik, still being built.
