A while ago someone posted a video of the new FlashPlayer and how it's gonna be all super fast and everything. But of course, the demo was on Windows, which doesn't really have a problem with Flash speed anyway.
Flash on the Mac is horribly slow. Anyone use the new FlashPlayer on OS X yet? I don't have my PowerBook on me right now so I can't test it.

Yeah. Unless that's different than the one in that video doing 300fps on some animation that used to do only 20fps.

There was a video showing the next gen flash on Mac OS X…
I dunno if Flash Player 8 is the next gen version though, there were a ton of features that would need to be in Flash MX first.

Was it on OS X? I thought it was on Windows. Anyway, I hope so. And I also hope Sun can do the same for Java.

The reviews from MacUpdate on v8.0 beta say the speed increase is pretty dramatic.

Thank god, I had to make an interactive CD-ROM in Flash last year and it would even playback choppy on the G5s....I could barely even proof it on my 733.

Some things are faster. Most are not. Still seems to be a bottleneck with the plugin model in Safari.

It seems faster, but there are so many sites that don't recognize the Flash 8 beta plugin. I had to downgrade to version 7.

Yeah… the presenter even made a point of saying how it was running on Mac OS X, and how it was so much faster than the pervious Mac OS Version.

It was indeed on the Mac.

Not likely, since Sun does not make Java for OSX. Apple rolls its own, based heavily on Sun's code but not exactly the same.

I have the beta files on my PB, and it is a dramatic increase. It plays my MX files ALMOST like they do on a Windblows machine. I have yet to be able to try them with Flash 8 files...
