When I got my vodka martini, I drank a little and spilt the rest in the bathroom, then got a malibu pineapple.

Gin Martini's are good.

I do like mash based Vodka more than the grain based.

I don't order Vodka Martinis to be like James Bond but I do love'em! I savor that vodka soaked olive at the end. I prefer the vodka over the gin. James Bond got it right, too bad it doesn't make me cool like OO7 but the Bond Girls sure would!

While I'm not particularly a big fan of either, I do find Vodka martinis somewhat more agreeable than the gin variety.

Except for the "shaken, not stirred" part. That's how you know someone orders a martini because of James Bond...

thats the right one.

And if you want to know how to do it best read the autobiography of Luis Bunel (My Last Sigh). There is an awesome discussion of recipes included.

I sometimes order one, but 80% of the times it is - well sub optimal (poor James).

The only time the bond movies were fun on television was in the 80's when ABC did them as their Sunday night specials. It helped that I was either under 10 or a tween.
When you were young and your heart was an open book, you used to say "live and let live."
But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

Sorry, but wrong.

A real guy is ALWAYS drawn, at least in some small degree (and at other times irresistably) to these films:

The Sean Connery Bond Films
The Godfather Films
The Steve McQueen Films (The Great Escape & Bullitt)
The Dirty Harry Films
The DeNiro Films (Raging Bull, Taxi Driver & Goodfellas)

When they are on he is tempted to watch them even if he knows the films by heart. And these films are required watching at least once a year.

They are ALWAYS enjoyable to watch.

Not, just don't like the taste of alcohol.

I use cheap vodka to get drunk.

Scotch if I care what my booze tastes like.

I don't quite understand the concept of a vodka martini. It seems like somebody that didn't like the taste of gin just decided that the more neutral vodka would be a good substitute and felt like they were drinking something equally classy.

I don't like mixed drinks much myself, except for bloody marys (and like jcadam, I prefer straight scotch in general).

Then again, I did make myself a beer float yesterday, so I'm not one to talk on such issues of taste :-P.

Scotch is just, ack. An aquired taste... I've sipped on some nice single-malt with a cigar but... not my cup of tea.

You made a beer float? What is that? Ice cream and beer? Hmmm.

If a Martini is made right, it is awesome. If it is made wrong, it just tastes like alcohol..
Temerature is everything, as is how the booze is handled. Shaking will ruin it, so just put it in the lighter and use it to light a cigar or cigs..
