Just wanted to start a thread on Don Bluth, since i feel hes one of the great western(as opposed to anime) animators. I recently rented out 'Secret of NIMH' and 'The Land Before Time', i havent seen these movies in like 8-12 years, and it's got some pretty darn good character design and animation. His most recent movie is 'Titan A.E.' which looks great as well, but wasnt a hit. Of the movies he's made, i recommend:
-The Secret of NIMH
-The Land before Time
-An American Tale
-All Dogs goto Heaven (which i havent seen in like15 odd years, and can barely remember)

What do you guys think of his styling and movies ?

For some reason, Bluth's stuff just makes me nauseous.

Don Bluth is extremely good at what he does, but he has one major weakness: most of his work goes beyond sweet to outright saccharine. If he went just a little easier on the sugar he'd be on par with Hayao Miyazaki.

He got The Secret of NIMH perfect, though. That movie is awesome. An American Tail is also very good; still over the top on sweetness but not by much.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

I totally agree that those are his two best efforts.

I guess my favorites are Secret of NIHM and The Land before Time. just awesome character design imo....very unique, and the animation was very very good...especially for hand drawn stuff.
