Apple? Partner with someone? Other than HP, it hasn't happened.

I think the Google thing is a red herring, one of those rumors that go around so that people have something to talk about in message boards. For instance, every few years, a rumor starts up that HP is about to buy Kodak. It makes the news here in Rochester and Kodak stock bumps up a point or so, but then everyone forgets it and Kodak stock continues its inevitable spiral downward.
I think the Dell thing is more significant. If money managers really are losing confidence in Dell and see Apple as a better long-term investment, then money will pour into the stock, demand will drive the price higher, and it will carry the stock through the Intel transition. That can be good news indeed.
I still am a little pessimistic about the Intel transition (strictly for the stock price in the next year -- I think it's a good thing for Apple in the long term, but their current sales will suffer.) I will admit I sold some before the earnings report when the stock was still below 40. But I made a tidy profit anyway, and I still have some AAPL left, so I'm not complaining.
