Brian says (9:16 AM): I was looking at houses in Ottawa... I actually have a temptation in me to move
Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.

Seriously though - why would you even think of trying a "diet" like that (the entire article sounds like it's a carbon of copy of a McDee's press release)? Of course are you going to loose acertain amount of weight if you cut down on your calories - does that mean you're eating healthy all of a sudden? Not by a long shot.
Tip of the morning/day: Stop, or at least cut down on, eating crap (McD/fast-food in general), sprinkle your diet with a few vitamins (fruit, veggies) here and there and you'll be right as rain.
In the long run, a bit of common sense (not implying that you don't have any right now) will get you a lot further than shoving even more $$$ up McD's corporate hindquarters.

Do what I did - get married to a cute chick who can cook like the devil.
Another possibility: getting away from the notion that preparing food is "work" - it's not. Shopping for good groceries, prepping the ingredients and coooking a decent meal can be a ton of fun and quite relaxing. Not only would you be eating healthier, you'd also realize that cooking your own food can be considerably cheaper than eating fast-food.
If you cook with foresight - e.g., prepare larger portions and freeze what you don't need right away, you can also cut down on the time needed to put a decent meal on the table every night (in your case probably "morning") of the week.

Hmm, in that case - raid the hotel kitchen (that's what I did when I worked in a hotel during my college years - with permission, of course), visit the "cook" more frequently (sleep-overs, doggy bags - anything goes) and put your pre-cooked meals in the freezer instead of leaving them in the back seat of your car.

On weight loss at McD's...
Yep, it's possible. I ate at McD's exclusively for a week while I had my kitchen refitted... ...and lost weight. Of course, I'm veggie so I was eating the Quorn burgers that McD's do here, not the dead cow version.

Eat wild sockeye salmon while it's still in season. Probably the healthiest thing in the world—especially the skin, which really isn't half bad—and probably the tastiest salmon I've ever put on the grill.

After reading the article, I have to say it's complete bollocks. If you want to go on a diet, change your diet. It's one thing to lose weight, and though it can be related, it's quite another to be healthy. McDonalds rarely has much nutritional value. And time shouldn't be so much of an issue when your health is on the line.
Buy from farmer's markets for cheap and healthy produce when it's in season. And sparingly buy organic when you don't plan on cooking all the nutrients out of it. Then eat the veggies—a lot of really tasty ones will fill you up without filling you out (most have a lot of fiber, which will make you feel fuller faster).

I gota say... I'm sick of crap like this. Why can't the news just stop confusing us poor fat people and simply say clearly. You need to go to a gym, no running is probably not enough work for you, and it doesn't work once every two weeks. Go down to GNC get a multi, and start lifting weights and doing real cardio 3-4 times a week. And don't worry if you jiggle when you start... it's not that bad.
