(Source: http://www.nintelligent.net/news2914.php)

Pretty interesting stats imo. Total Software = 2 billion units ? does thatmean only Nintendo games ?

Your average DS owner own 2-3 games.
Your average GBA owner has 4-5 games.
And your average GCN owner has a whopping 7-8 games !!!

I'll admit im a nintendo fan, but the GCN hardware sales have been less than stella. (i blame marketing). But wow...7-8 games per console sold. (i have 8). pretty darn good for a 'platform' imo. Obviously what Nintendo needs to do is broaden it's appeal n the home console market.

Cheers

Don't tell SWG that Nintendo seems to be more profitable than Sony's games unit...

hehehe. ok. i wont .

What i find astonishing....Sony at E305 announced 2 billion games sold for it's Playstation, which is a impressive number. i guess that means total unit sales of software for PS1, PS2 and PSP.

But if Nintendo meant 2 billion units of games it developed itself. WOW. Can you imagine what the total unit software sales for Nintendo must be at for all it's consoles put together ?!?!

Nice to see video games finally appealing to non-nerds/geeks. Lots and lots of potential for growth in those markets imo, not to mention totally different gameplay ideas and genres.

Oh...and pretty good for a 'kiddie puppy simulator' eh ? well im sure the hardcore gamers would have liked it if it had more of the same ...... grit, girls and guns.

Big Kudos to Nintendo. Taking on a challenge to appeal to non gamer demographics (unlike their competition), and succeeding with flying colors.

Cheers

Hmm... I'll have to check out the cool new things being shown at the Tokyo Game show in a week.

They've been advertising the Gamboy Micro. A very small version of the Gameboy Advanced. Its way too small for my big hands, but would be great for kids.

As my PSP gathers inches and inches of dust my DS has been getting some serious use. I even bought my friend one along with Nintendogs for her early birthday present. So now, we're doing game sharing with a bunch of my games and it has been great fun.

I bought my kids Nintendogs only because they needed something new.

Lasted about 15 minutes. They went back to coloring.

Oh, and my daughter still prefers WoW.

How is that cool? It's small. TOO small. Even the GBA screen could be bigger.

The only reason I bought a GameBoy Color was for Super Mario Bros., Tetris, Joust, and Defender.

I think that Nintendo has some very unique game ideas.

However, I find the PSP to be a much better system than the DS. GameCube vs. PS2 was a tie for me. The DS is too big to really be a "portable" system...I just don't like the design. While the touchscreen is interesting, it is akward to use when on the go.

I find myself using the PSP for movies (not UMDs, but ones I encoded and put onto a 2GB MS myself) more than games. Though having Tales of Eternia in my pocket is pretty nice.
