Why?
Why is Power Mac two works, and PowerBook one word? I don't get it. But it drives me nuts. It makes no sense. I'm very upset.

Power Mac is short for Power Macintosh, two words.

PowerBook is one word, complete.

Ah grasshopper, when you can answer that question yourself, then you will find that you are finally on the path to true enlightenment...

Or in more vernacular terms, "hell if I know."

The 'PowerBook' brand actually predates the Power Macintosh (and, indeed, the PowerPC architecture) by about two years. The first PowerBooks used 68000 and 68030 chips. The Power Macintosh brand wouldn't come along until 1993. I believe the latter as two words to try and avoid confusion between it and the PowerBook.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

Note also: PowerCD, PowerTalk, PowerSchool, PowerShare, PowerScheduler, PowerLatch, and last but not least, PowerLunch. (Thanks, Apple Trademark List.)
