What is up with some of the new banner ads here on the forums? I'm talking about ones that say things like this:
"I thought the redness, bumps, and genital irritation were from shaving. But now I'm not so sure."
I'm just wondering:
- What these have to do with MacNN audience. It doesn't seem particularly related or targeted. And, yes, it could apply to anyone, but it doesn't seem to clearly apply specifically to MacNN's audience.
and
- Do you like/prefer/mind the ads?

Furthermore, most web ads of any kind seem to range between lame and "WTF?!?!"
And if one uses the proper shaving preparations, those bumps don't happen. On either person involved.

it's amazing isn't it? i think i'm quite slow on the keyboard usually - would love to be able to type faster, but throw a popup ad or a spam email at me and i'll have the bastard closed/deleted before the photons it's putting out have got even half-way to my eyeballs.
why do these people even bother?

I don't understand either. What really gets me is these Google adwords, especially in Gmail. The only time I've ever noticed them is right when I got Gmail, just to see how relevant they were to my conversation.
