STOUGHTON, Wis. (AP) _ A tornado destroyed or damaged dozens of
homes as it roared through Stoughton in southern Wisconsin late
today.

At least three people have been hospitalized by the twister that
hit as severe storms blasted their way across the central and
southern parts of the state.

State Emergency Management spokeswoman Lori Getter says the
storms damaged 80 to 90 homes in the Stoughton area. She says three
people were hospitalized, but the extent of their injuries wasn't
immediately known.

I lived in Madison, WI until July for 8 years. I hope no personal damage was caused by the Tornado and that everybody is doing fine soon. Regards

That was my fault -- sorry about that, guys (and gals).

Coolest thing was there was some freaking HUGE lightning around here. I saw one bolt go totally sidways, inside a cloud to another cloud, and instead of just flashing for a millisecond, it STAYED for about 1/4-1/2 a second or so. I think that's what's called 'positive lightning', but I could be wrong. In any event, it was a HUGE bolt.

Been there MANY times this year for races just south west of there. Drive by where those homes were destroyed each time.

Scary.

Nope. Like I said, creepy weather. I adjusted the brightness a tiny bit, but only so you could see a bit more detail on the buildings. Later on the whole sky turned orange, but I didn't bother taking pics since I knew they wouldn't turn out.

Wow- great pics, Rob.

I was watching the local weathermen get all excited (rightfully so, as we came to see), and wondering if buying a house without a basement was such a good idea after all. But then... one person died in these storms, and the news said he was in his basement, and the chimney collapsed on him.

If a tornado was ever heading for a house I lived in, I think I'd just get in my car and drive somewhere else. :|

You'd probably never make it. By the time you know there's a tornado coming for you you have time to either
A) Scream like a little girl for a minute
B) Get to an interior low level room/basement/foundation

Anyways, more likely than not, the tornado will miss where your at, and if you're driving you just increase your probability that you and tornado will intersect.

Not really. There was quite a bit of warning for this stoughton tornado. Their whole freakin county was under warning or watch or whatever the serious one was for quite a while.

And if you live in the midwest those warnings happen about once or twice a month. You just get used to them and head for the basement when the sirens go off.

I do live in the midwest, and I've never really had to go anywhere. I wish I did. I like storms.

Thanks. That's my view from my living room, so we get treated to some pretty cool sunsets occasionally.
