40 GB - same size as current 20 GB 4G iPod. That's what I will buy the day it comes out. The iPod is flawless as it is. I just need more capacity. So, good news for me.

it really needs some kind of input device. what's the point carrying an 80GB hard drive round with you if it's "read-only" most of the time.

I never thought I would fill my 60 when I got it but I'm getting close. Less than 5GB to spare.
If video comes, an 80GB makes sense.

Me quattro.
I think the screen on the iPod needs to improve. It's too small for photos. For video it would be unacceptable. There are digital cameras that are way cheaper with much larger LCD screens than the iPod.

I am very close to buying this Archos - AV4100 Pocket Video Recorder. It has a 100 GB HD and it has nearly everything I want, but it isn't iTunes compliant. And it costs a FORTUNE!!!

A video iPod would be cool...
Though I may just need to upgrade my 10 GIG Rev 2 to a iPod color so I can plus my camera into it on trips...

I don't understand the mass appeal of video functionality. I was considering the 30GB iPod before it was discontinued. I have a shuffle now, but I'll wait and see if a 40GB comes out. If it has video features, that's nice, but I doubt I'll use it for video that often.

What I want is WiFi so that it can stream to Airport Express or act as a remote. Useful and cool.

it won't be 40 gigabytes though because its only a single platter, the ipod usually has two platters squeezed into one drive, so it will be 80 in the next version.

I have a lot of free time at work and VERY little free time at home. I watch about 90% of the movies I see while I'm at work. Currently I have to go to a big confrence room and watch TV/movies on a rear projection screen in conference room type chairs. I'd rather be able to be anywhere at work and be able to watch. I know... woah is me.
I would use this thing daily. Especially with the TiVo transfer functionality. Load up my TiVoed shows at home and watch them at work.
