I recently bought a Sony Ericcson T610, and it's been great apart for one recurring problem.

Randomly (it would seem) it will "drop out" and not recieve any calls or messages (nor show any sign of them at all). When this happens, I can't call out or message others either. Turning the phone off then on fixes this, and I recieve the missed text messages, but it just happens again later on.

Does anyone know if this is a common issue? I'll be calling SE later about it, and I'd like to have a clue what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance.

I had the T616 and T637 (same thing as yours) for over 2 years total and never once had that problem. Could it also be your service?

I have the same phone. I never had the problem of it never receiving calls, only the problem of making calls. Often it shows "connecting," but I always thought it was the service. I don't believe that I have missed any calls.

On another note, I have this yellow mail icon on the top left of my screen with a 'W' on it. What is it for? (too lazy to look it up and I think I lost my manua)

Well, it doesn't seem to be the service, as I remain connected and with reception even when the problem is manifesting itself. That said, I've not tried my service on another phone, nor have I tried another service on my phone. I suppose I should, but I really get the feeling it's the phone.

The mail icon with a "W" on it means you've recieved a WAP push message; go to "Messaging" and down to "WAP push" then to your inbox to open it.

Thanks. It could be the phone. I'm not too happy with it myself.

or even better - just delete it as unread, since there's a 99% chance it will be some kind of scam message that ends up costing you money to receive.
