Hey, I thought I posted a post about my iPod battery going fubar and the really great service I got... but I can't seem to find it with a search. So just to fill you in. Last week Friday I phoned up Apple, and I told the guy who picked up, "Hey, I was at the gym the other day and I got 2.5 hours of battery life before my iPod said it was dead, it came back to live later, and then died again and this went on... I already did a software restore," and I went on.
Well, the guy on the other end was insanely helpful, FAR better than the experience when my iBook died and I actually got yelled at by the woman on the other end. Anyway, we actually had a nice chat, he asked me to do a few things so that we knew it wasn't software related, I did them... again (It's a freaking iPod there's not much software related to do really...). And we chatted a bit, I mentioned my plan to get a G5, he was envious and it was in general almost like chatting to a friend instead of the normal bitter call centre person who hates their job, and you because you're now part of their universe.
He set up the shipping of a box to me that I'd put the iPod in and what not. And it got here Monday. I put my iPod in and sent it away same day.
Well today the package came, and I now have a nice brand new four gig iPod mini. In exactly one week. I gota say I'm very happy about the service I got from Apple this time around, and will be making sure to buy Apple care for my lil mini .
I'm actually a lil happy my other one died, I'd dropped it a few times so it was kinda beat up and it had a few scratches and stuff, I'll be being more careful with this one, I think I might buy a case of some sort.
I should also mention, the click wheel feels a lot different when it's new than when it's been used for a long time.

Was it still under garantee (what is it, 3 months)?
I have 4-6 hours from the battery of my 6 months old mini, I'm a little bit disappointed, I'm thinking about calling Apple and see if the could change at least the battery.

iPod minis have 1 year warranties. You need at least half of the advertised price for Apple to move on it.

Did your mom call them once because of your iBook?

"That's okay, I'd like to keep it on manual control for a while."

I should note my new iPod has been running since around 3, and it's still going. Granted I took a small break from about 7-9... I'm thinking I might have a brand brand new one that's supposed to get like 12 hours or something... I've been trying to wear the battery down by just playing and seeing how far it got.
