I'm thinking about getting back into consulting a little, and I was wondering what anyone could say about the current state of affairs of Macintosh consulting. The last time I was doing it was back in the OS7.5 days and obviously a lot of stuff has changed since then.

Other than a general sum up of the business, how much are people charging these days? I feel like I've got some great OS X knowledge, networking, general computing, etc, along with hardware troubleshooting. I'm OS X help-desk certified, along with desktop & portable repair certified. Not looking to do tons, but if I could bill 4 or 5 hours a week, I'd be pretty pleased. Any thoughts?

Around here, I charge $75 base plus $75/h, with a one hour minimum.

Do you have any higher education facilities around you? That will help you out. It's all about location, location, location.

Which is good, because unlike mortals, Gods don't have to eat...

I already have a pretty good job supporting 75 macs at a newspaper, but I'd like to break out a few extra hours a week.
