It gives a new "shade" to WW II and how it looked from the German point of view.

Let's hope a third world war never happens (This is not political, I coming from a humanist perspective. I hope such wholesale slaughter never happens again... however, I know the ability resides still in the human character).

Wow. That is great. Its not often you see something from the point of view of the "enemy". My grandfather has a book with about 400 pages of the first world war, pictures of important military figures, pictures of the fighting etc. Copyrighted in the 1920"s, he picked it up later though.

I think the most ominous picture is the one of the two lovers on the beach. In all likelihood they were planning a life together just like we do with our partners today. Chances are that at least one of them didn't survive the war.

My grandfather fought in the German army. Lotsa pics in the family albumn. Interestingly, pics of the German side from a foot soldier's perspective look alot like pics of the Allies side from a foot soldier's perspective.

I don't understand what the "slant" could be. Please explain the math, as I was never very good at it.

Personally, I found it very interesting. Thanks for the link.

I think he was referring to my statement of not making this thread into a political issue.

I'm with Mastrap, the picture of the two lovers under the swastika is really "ominous." (good word) They were just people and chances are that yes one of them probably didn't make it. It was weird, for I thought of my pictures with those that I loved, but it was a weird reaction to seeing the swastika. Amazing what a symbol invokes.

The other one that I found "interesting" is of the soldier posing in the toppled statue. I think that if I was in the front lines, I would pose for similar pictures (like Wiskedjak said).

You have to wonder just how much these very low level, enlisted German foot soldiers knew. I find it hard for them to justify invading, unprovoked, France and Poland and others. But I highly doubt the low level enlisted guys knew about the genocide and the camps. But then again, they had rallys they would go to where Hitler would make speeches about a master race, etc. That HAS to set off red flags (no pun intended) in your head!

I guess it would be a lot more comforting to say "there were a few bad apples at the top and no one else knew what was going on" instead of "everyone should have known what went on and there was an entire country of evil people."

Lets see.

"The Lies of a preventative war" + Pic of good ole boy group

"Unnecessary Bombardment" + Pics of bombed City.

"Insulting Monuments" + Pic of a statue tore down and pummeled.

"An Army Out of Control" + Pic of soldiers abusing prisoners.

Now, Look at the Iraq war. The main points made during it by those against it.

I am sure it was PURELY coincidence.

No, technically, I don't go by dimensions. I thought it fell under the guidelines so I put it up there... guess I was wrong. No harm intended.

Well, the rules are very specific (though I actually do allow some leeway). Specific rules means it's very clear as to whether a rule is being broken or not. Inline images need to be no wider than 480px.

Exactly. Methinks he doth protest too much.

What else coud he mean? That he bombing of Rotterdam was justified? That the invasion of Russia WAS a preventative strike?

Some of those photos were amazing.

Sort of like being able to be in the inner circle when all of the insanity was happening.

The hardest one to look at for me was the soldier executing the civilians. His gun was still smoking. Terrible.
