Dispite all that it still gets me from A to B and has never broken down on me besides a dead battery and a little push and she goes. The battery problems are actually from a defective battery which I replaced today.

Besides this car has not been treated with the best of care, previous owner drove it into the ground so im playing catchup.

Look at it this way: Once you've replaced everything you'll have a nearly-new car.

I'm sorry to hear about all of your car problems.

A single post is a fetish? Hmmmm... What would you following me around be?

There's a "Arrr" in the title. Pirates say "Arrrr".

I was trying to be light hearted.

If I wanted to bait you into an exchange I could have commented that on your extremely reliable Honda you sure have spent a lot of money. You probably could have bought another car that would be even more reliable. But then, you want to rice this one out with custom fenders and such so really, you are just on the cusp of really wasting your money.

You have an old car. They don't last forever. Are you surprised that you're having to spend money on it? If you don't want to have to mess with it, buy a car under warranty, and keep it no more than a couple years after it's out of warranty, and sell or trade before it hits 75k miles.

What jasonsRX7 said is right. Even the most well built cars will require expensive maintenance at some point. Everything you mentioned is routine wear and tear maintenance on a car that's 10-20 years old, with the exception of the steering rack which can last forever or go out after 1 month.

I know you probably don't wanna hear this, but here's some more maintenance you might be looking at in the future, if you haven't already done it:

1) CV-axles. If you hear a clunking noise while accelerating through a turn they need to be replaced. If you have a torn boot on either side of the cv-axle, it will need to be replaced.
2) Timing belt. If you haven't changed this yet I highly recommend doing so asap. The older Honda engines f*ck themselves up hard if the timing belt breaks.
3) Have your radiator flushed.
4) Have your injector system cleaned ( not sure if yours is injected or not, I seem to remember some of the older preludes being carborated )

Other than the things Ive listed and the things you've already done your car should be good to go and you shouldn't really expect to have anymore major maintenance to do on it. Your Prelude looks like it's been well taken care of

You could buy used parts.(only worth it if you are doing the labour yourself), that would save money.

well the car is reliable, and I didn't buy it, was given to me. It just seems that you fix one thing, 2 things break next. Its a fuel injected and I gotta get that cleaned out too. The drive axle replacment was for the busted CV joint which I drove 20 000km on lol. All said and done, when im done with all the work on it, the needed work I would have paid a total of 2000 into the car, which is still the same price or less then buying a 2nd gen prelude used so I'll still be ahead of the game and with a better car then what I could have got used.

Since you are not the original owner of this car, you're enjoying the thrills of Other People's Screw Ups™. The good news is that you can find all these parts and more, newly manufactured and easily available, and that it's fairly easy to do anything you need to do to a Honda. And of course, as Doofy says, once you're done fixing all those thigns, your car will be practically new!

The tires are "expendable" items that you need to replace every now and then anyway. The O2 sensor must be the upstream sensor (you replaced the rest of the exhaust system) so it's almost childsplay to replace and not too expensive, either.

Gas tank...it sucks to be you on this one, since it's not an easy job and won't be cheap-why does it need replacing and not patching? The fuel pump is not "hard" to replace, but it's a pain to get at it-it's still not a bad weekend project.

Alternator-gotta have one that works, but are you SURE it's not just a bad ground cable or regulator? Shop around at various auto parts places that do alternator testing to make sure.

I know EXACTLY WHY you need to replace the steering rack; those rubber boots sure are important, aren't they! It's a task I might attempt (with my "CV Joint Partner" anyway) over a full weekend, but that might be stretching things a bit.

The old filler pipe looked like it came off the Titanic, it was rusted right through and had tons of holes. The gas tank is intact but it prob has tons of dirt and other crap in it because of the filler pipe. Also the lining that protects the gas tank is prob gone too because its so old. Ideal im going to replace the Gas Tank, gas lines, fuel pump and injectors and gas filter in one shot as a complete Fuel System overhaul. No im the 4th owner, perhaps even more. Like I said before the previous guy drove it into the ground.

Fairly routine maintenace, cept the steering box.

It could be worse, I need 2 new CV joints, and 2 new shock/strut assemblies for the front of my Dodge. I'm gonna try and ride it out until I can afford a new vehicle

Heh... when my dad moved from Hawaii to New York he drove cross country, and practically rebuilt his entire car. It was an old Volkswagen bug I think... the only think that was original was pretty much the body and a few other minor things.
