I think it'd be hella cool if they came out with a Mac with a dual-core G5 and a dual-core Pentium of some sort, so that everything can run natively on whichever CPU is faster for that task. </wishful thinking>

Unlikely to be possible from a mathematical standpoint, as this basically reduces to the halting problem. You could have some sort of flag in apps to tell the machine to prefer one architecture over the other if both are available, but that's not really the same as "whichever CPU is faster".
My guess is that this will be either the iPhone or the video-iPod. I don't want either one, so it doesn't affect me all that much; it's just more bloat added onto what was once a great and simple gadget.

"1000 songs in your pocket changed everything. Here we go again,..."
According to a post on AI, this is what the invites to the event say. '1000 sangs in your pocket' was the slogan for the original 5Gb iPod.

With such a slogan it could be something big. A 1000 movies in your pocket ? Or maybe not...

That's exactly what I was thinking.
If that is the slogan that's being used, it makes it sound like something revolutionary is around the corner
Perhaps video iPods with on-demand movie download service through iTunes. Or WiFi-enabled iPods that you can stream to AirTunes. Or, a freakishly sweet combo - WiFiPods with video and on-demand movie download through iTunes, which can then be streamed to AirTunes which now has a video out for playback on your TV.
Or it's the stupid phone... who knows.

My guess, either iPod video of course only supporting quicktime, specifically mpeg 4.
Hopefully nothing involving Windows Media.

As always, what good is a portable video player?
The reason the Walkman and then iPod have been so successful is that listening to music can be done alongside another task: jogging, working on homework, cooking, driving, etc.
The same cannot be said for video: it demands the attention of your ears and eyes, thus severely reducing the number of situations in which it can be used.
Not only is Steve Jobs vehemently anti-video (he hates TV, apparently), he's also let the rest of the portable player market prove that there is no market for portable video: they exist, and nobody uses them.

He hates TV but yet came out with consumer friendly products to create movies to watch on your home equipment? So if he already created a product for consumers who do like TV (but he doesn't), why wouldn't he create another video product that consumers would like?

I think watching TV and making your own movies is quite something different. And apparently – owning a movie company – he doesn't hate movies.

The BBC are talking about simulcast tv shows.
If these take off and are embraced in the same fashion as podcasts by the media giants then Apple would do well to give users the ability to watch TV Shows on the go. Download them through iTunes (needs a new name clearly) and sync them to your viPod.
Fair enough, only UK TV License payers can access the BBC Simulcast content but if the US Channels embrace this, with correct advertising pricing and the like, then Apple are investing in a golden future.
But there's no need for it right *NOW*. It doesn't however mean Apple won't bring out a viPod.
