I am always interested in but slightly sceptical of people who say they can predict the future. It always boils down to this question.
"If you can predict the future why didn't you predict this (NAME OF MAJOR EVENT) and why didn't you document your prediction involving this major event? Or why haven't the major news media or mainstream media grabbed onto you and made your predictions/warnings known to the general public?"
Well, here's an interesting one for us to take a look at.
Apparently, Dr. Louis Turi has been on the nationally broadcast Coast to Coast AM (Premier Radio) several times due to his documented predictions having come true.
Last nite he was interviewed because of his accuracy in predicting a hurricane for the period between AUGUST 24 - 31, 2005.
Here's his predictions from his Moon Power Starguide 2005:
WED., THU., FRI., SAT. — AUGUST 24, 25, 26, 27:
Environment: Following the Full Moon, tornadoes, high winds,
earthquakes, and accidents due to bad weather are very high on the list.
The earth is alive and she needs to stretch herself now and then. Stay safe
and be prudent on the road.
SUN., MON., TUE., WED. — AUGUST 28, 29, 30, 31:
Environment: What was once built by man (cities/homes) or nature must
be destroyed; what was once born must eventually die, and this is the
grand cycle of life. Recycling is the key word in nature and not anything is
really wasted. There is nothing one can do other than accept the ultimate
changes imposed by God, and usually the future offers better.
I just downloaded the starguide last nite and haven't had a chance to check it out, but I thought I'd give you all a chance to watch it as well.
He is offering the 2005 starguide for free by going to his website. I'm not getting any money from this and yes, I know he may be listing doom and gloom on every weather prediction because he's BOUND to be right a certain % of the time because there's a thuderstorm, tornado, earthquake, hurricane or volcano going on SOMEWHERE on earth most of the time.
Yet...
His website also says he predicted 9/11 http://www.drturi.com/911page.php
and if this guy has a gift of prophecy, who are we to scoff? Each of us has SOME kind of gift we can't take credit for and we all know there are certain things we can do that most others can't or can't do as well. So here's the link:
http://www.drturi.com/home.php
One more thing. He has a MAJOR DIRE PREDICTION FOR MID SEPTEMBER which he highlights on the site.
Dr. Turi does it again!
Predictions of the earthquakes in Japan and the evacuations due to the Hurricane Katrina in Florida were predicted!
RESULTS August, 2005 - See the predictions as they were made on Coast to Coast AM Radio in June 2005
IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT FOR SEPTEMBER 16/17/18 2005 - The same negative energy that produced all major hurricanes, earthquakes tornadoes and tsunamis is hovering above the earth and will take more lives. I am giving you the concentrated dates of its destructive power for the month of September and each and every month as of today. I have proven to be right many times over and I wish the NWS and/or NASA would listen and learn from my methodology. I am expecting more trouble with water damages on these days with all affairs ruled by Neptune "Poseidon, the Lord of the Seas". The worse case scenario is another tsunami following a large earthquake. Stay clear from the ocean on these days and PLEASE pass on my prediction to all the people you know! Be a participant of true knowledge and help me to save lives. Those dates were broadcasted on the George Noory show Coast To Coast on august 29, 2005.
Sept 7/8/9
Sept 16/17/18
Sept 25/26/27
I would feel terrible if anything happened to any of you without my passing along this info so you might take it into account in making plans, here it is.
I do not endorse this but I do want to look at it and invite you to do the same.

Well, no where does the quotes you posted say anything about predicting a hurrican (katrina) in florida or in the gulf. Those quotes are pretty true on EVERY day (high winds and earthquakes happen EVERY day SOMEPLACE on earth. always).

Katrina hit New Orleans on Monday, August 29, under a waning crescent moon. The hurricane hit southern Florida on Friday, August 26, under a waning quater moon. That doesn't fit at all. Sorry, I don't buy it.

"I've got two Neptunes here," said Harry after a while, frowning down on his parchment, "that can't be right, can it?"
"Aaaah," said Ron, imitating Professor Trelawney's mysical whisper, "when two Neptunes appear in the sky, it is a sure sign that a midget in glasses is being born, Harry..."

I hope it is soon! Rickey is a living legend!
But, on the other hand, I can't wait for his induction!
Waiting five years isn't necessary. The minute he retires he should be voted in!

What theory did I debunk?
How did I debunk it?
I don't think it was bunked to begin with so why would it need DE bunking?
Why would I be debunking it?

Well, as Rod Serling used to say, submitted for your approval...
You don't.
But then again you haven't jumped into your time machine and determined that his Mid September prediction is wrong, have you???
That's cheating.

Know anything about Peak Oil, Kerrigan? C2C listeners do.

Having lived in California most of my adult life and specifically in the San Francisco Bay area (yes, I survived the Loma Prieta quake--about two miles from Candlestick Park at that moment), I know about the little imperceptible or barely perceptible quakes that go on almost daily -- my ex was a human seismograph. Throughout the day and night it was, "wait a second...earthquake...(LATER)...mojo2, did you feel that? (LATER)...THAT was a sharp one..." and etc.
I've given ole Pigeon a hard time at times and thought I'd ease up on him for a change by giving him the benefit of the doubt and taking his comment seriously.
Thanks for the 411, though.

Oh, God, I'm in stitches.
If there really were/are aliens with superior intellects visiting Earth some of the attitudes on display in this thread (x 1,000,000's of those who might have the same attitude) might be why they haven't bothered to announce themselves and begin a dialog.
But, then again they might just see us as cattle. And no one talks to their cow except for lonesome cowboys and Lisa Douglas (think about her cow, "Eleanor.")

Or maybe they haven't visited us because we give nutters like "Dr. Turi" (A hurricane in August, now there's shocker if I ever saw one) a public platform to spread their "predictions". Guess we're going to have to wait until they do show up and we can ask for ourselves.
Question for the physics-savvy: Will a radio signal that is broadcast via an AM transmitter travel into space (assuming sufficient signal strength, of course) or will it be reflected by the earth's atmosphere? (It would explain the apparent lack of alien visitors if the signal actually did travel into space)

On C2C they discussed this last week and the guest said that maybe because the radio signals keep spreading out in concentric circles the farther they travel from the source, that the potential alien teen ager looking for an alternative to his or her world's equivalent to Avril Lavigne or Ludacris would have to have the key to our frequency to tune in such a broadly dispersed signal.
Not sure if our radio signals to voyaging spacecraft or (for ex. the moon missions) were AM/FM/UHF/VHF or what. But radio signals do travel beyond our atmosphere.
AM signals USED to be predictably eartbound after dark but in the last few months, without ANYONE having a reasonable answer as to why, those AM signals no longer are bouncing off the atmosphere like they had all along.
I remember ALWAYS being able to pick up distant TV and AM Radio stations after dark. Often I listened to broadcasts from hundreds of miles away. The last time I intentionally tried this was about a year ago I picked up a Seattle station from San Francisco, at night. After I heard Art Bell on Coast To Coast AM mention the night time AM signal bounce phenomenon had ceased, I tried it again and again and no dice.
Anyway, back to your main question, I really don't know the specifics of signal frequency patterns and that sort of thing but by listening to the show I picked up enough info to be truly less ignorant sounding on a subject I know nothing about but have some interest in.
But when the discussion turns to talking to cows, THEN we're in business!

Another thing to be said about the show, Coast to Coast AM, is that it isn't like your average TV or radio show. There is NOT going to be a daddy-like figure who has approved this content as being suitably anything for your consumption.
This means that there will be things that won't pass YOUR BS filter and the hosts will not give the guest or the subject a seal of approval. What they WILL do is act, as much as possible, as a neutral or a friendly interviewer so that someone who DOES believe in the subject and is interested in the subject might have an opportunity to have their interest advanced.
The subject matter does not always appeal to most any one 100% of the time, but it is interesting enough, often enough and the information is reliable enough that I find it a regular place to check in at night if nothing else prevents it. If they are dealing with a subject of my interest I'll tune in.
For example, this coming Saturday night, Matt Savinar, the guy responsible for first alerting me to the term, Peak Oil, is going to be interviewed again. Because of what's been happening at the pumps most of you are just now starting to find out about the coming end of the oil age and what it all means. Well, I learned about this in February of 2004 when Savinar was first on C2C.
Turn up your nose if you will, but C2C is a grown up show with a grown up philosophy. That philosophy is, 'practice some discernment in what you listen to AND what you believe because no one is going to pat you on the head and tell you, "this is all OK for you to listen to" and no one should.
I thought Mac users were supposed to be anti-Big Brother and not sheep-like. Well, maybe most of you are and the others are poseurs?
