"Oyez" was my only one after I realized the 4 letter limit. Until then I was thinking, "Hear ye!"

But "ha ha!" is hilarious in this context!

heh! - i keep a big book of crosswords in the bog. gives me something to think about while doing my early morning dump. i usually prefer the cryptics tho, but the current one [featured in the stunning image] is a book of "normal" crosswords.

oyez [pron. "oh yeah"] - dates from the days when england was ruled by the normans and most folk spoke french. [BTW - it does pretty much mean "hear ye"]

thus endeth the lesson.

tidbit

The name Oyez comes from the Anglo-Norman word for hear ye, the imperative plural of oyer, meaning to hear. It was used as a call for silence and attention in court and at public gatherings.
