http://www.spamarrest.com

I just sent a email to somebody using this service and it asks them to verify your email before it lets you get through. I own 2 domains so I get a lot of crap, I am generally afraid I miss a couple of peeps who try to get through but I stopped caring because anything important they would call or keep sending.

I already have a myway.com account I use for spam and newsletters (this account actually gets like no spam weirdly enough)

so for these prices, i think it's worth it.

what you guys think?

I don't think it's worth it. Having to verify your mail first ? Nah, wouldn't bother with this.

If you own domains, do you have SSH shell access ?
Install your own SpamAssassin server-sided, that will take care of it much cheaper and better.

Avoid catch-all addresses n your domains. Use only valid, pointed email addresses and keep them protected on your site. Use email forms, not links, etc.

You don't need to pay for this if you handle it properly on your end.

I use catch-all, but with SpamAssassin, it's no problem.

Here is my statistic: since May 16, 2005, I received 1484 spam mails classified correctly.
I had 15 (1.0%) false negatives (HAM classified as Spam) and 23 (1.5%) false positives (Spam classified as HAM).

Works well for me.

Yes, if handled properly (I use SpamSeive) catch-alls are no problem -- I was just addressing his comments s since it seems he's wanting to modify his behavior.

i have basic service via a host and have no control over SSH. i have no idea to use it either!

i stopped "catch-all"

also, i have had this domain since 1999 (when i knew even less than i know now) — so my domain has been on lists for years and years..

and in terms of the "verifing" — i would add in my contacts so they would not have to verify. i actually don't have more than 25 -30 people — and only 10 or so people i consider important.

but i guess i'm souring on it the more i think about it.

So have all my domains. Spam control boils down to control of your addresses, but I won't get into that.

As for the verification crap, I NEVER do that. I don't respond. Simple as that.

If you only have to worry about 25-30 addresses, just create a new email address and use it, killing your old one -- then give those 25-30 people the new address.

What are you doing with your domains ? Personal ? Business ?
Maybe time for an upgrade to a full-service provider.
I've had very good experience with www.dreamhost.com

If you are interested, I can PM you a $ 20 off the first bill coupon if you sign up with them.

one of my domains is purely vanity. and the other is for a webcomic. for the vanity one, i leave it up so people who google me can find me (old friends/classmates). For the webcomic, i guess i would like to have people email me with comments.

i dont want to pay to an upgraded service because i dont have good server programming skills and dont want to learn.

as for people having to verify — i like the idea if it's not important, they won't respond. in essence, i wont get extra email from people i dont care about.
