Made me laugh incredibly hard. So funny!

Boy the Technical Director was really shitting himself after that one. Thank god he didn't make the camera switch earlier.

Classic!

Edit: It's Kanye West, btw..

Not new. He is talented but not very bright. Plus he needs to get the sh!t smacked out of him. In that respect he's quite typical of that cross section of the south side. He grew up under the thumb of Jesse jackson's influence so I am not surprised he says stuff like that every chance he gets.
He can say goodbye to the Pepsi endorsement.

Haha. Yeah, I just saw it too. Mike Myers looked so awkward. I'm convinced the only reason they didn't cut away earlier was because Kanye's original rant (before they switched back to him and he said his Bush comment) was so incoherent. I don't think the tech director really knew what he was saying at first. I know I didn't.

Yep, pretty stupid. I actually viewed it live. Definitely uncomfortable but expected. Most people with a brain would understand that this was a relief concert where you probably had a large, diverse section of the United States tuning in. Regardless of what people think of Bush, most white people probably took some sort of offense to the comment. I'm sure many more tuned out afterwards probably costing thousands in donations. NBC and the Red Cross should tap the nielsen ratings to see what of kind of viewership was lost and then charge it to this nimrod's booty account.

I just saw on the news an entire retirement home of 50 people were found dead. ALL OF THEM.

Where was the staff?
What happened?

Thousands are dying. There are Hospitals without power... people who need insulin, Oxygen, and are going to be dying very soon! My heart is breaking. I've managed to avoid most coverage because of my family tragedy, but I'm now watching this and I'm getting upset.

Maybe he appears to be stupid because he speaks some kind of black culture language? (this was discussed here before, but the name of the language escapes me now) It's a common misjudgement that people who speak the language differently (foreign dialect, accent) are perceived as dumb, while in fact they might not be.

Yeah, I don't think so.
I am going to go by things like this to make my judgment on his intelligence, and I quote:

"I would rather take that chance because it's important for my people. The concept of AIDS alone - my parents always told me, who are activists - that it's a man-made disease in the first place that was placed in Africa (to eradicate blacks) just like crack was placed in the black community to break up the Black Panther (black activists) party.

I think my call is right and you are wrong.

No, not at all. He doesn't speak particularly ghettoish (ebonics was the word you were looking for I believe). He is an ignorant racist fool because of his comments and beliefs which come across very clearly in his statements.

What was NBC thinking using Kanye West on a live fundraiser television program? The man has said controversial and questionable things many times before, including on live television.

When the purpose of your program is to raise money for charity, you certainly don't want to give people reasons not to. Hopefully people offended by West's comments will realize they were his own opinions and not those of General Electric, its child companies, NBC and PAX affiliates, and the other presenters and performers on the program.

I believe someone someday is going to shoot that man in the ass.

Wait, sorry: I didn't mean to alienate anyone else in the audience who might be ghetto.

Huh. I had a lot of respect for you before this comment. There's no doubt that Kanye's tirade was in poor taste and based on lack of knowledge. But the fact that there are still people that believe this kind of stuff should speak volumes about how some blacks still perceive white people's actions. Stated another way... when you're in control (read caucasian male) everything seems fine and dandy. When you aren't (read any other ethnic class in the US) nothing seems to go your way.

Please don't assume that I necessarily subscribe to the above statement. But there is a great deal of truth in it from what I've observed in my life.

You reap what you sow.

You must not have had much respect for me, and if you did, you didn't understand me. I hate racism. My father-in-law is a racist and it bothers me. I made that comment to be funny, and that's it. What is funny about it, is it will never happen. That racist idiot is going to gain supporters in his community and the black on white racism will increase. That is the sad truth.

I don't see color when I meet a person. All I have to do is listen to determine if I like them or not.

This was his second such racist comment in an event for CHARITY, and he makes me sick. When I heard what the man said the first time, I had no idea he was black. I never knew who he was, all I heard was this guy got up and said racist and rude comments. The only clue as to what color he was, would have been his name, and they got that wrong. I heard CAIN, not Kayne.

So, I was just trying to be funny. That doesn't diminish what this scumbag idiot said. I don't wish someone to shoot him in the ass, after he shot his own mouth off... do what I do. I just don't patronize anything he does. Same went for the Dixie Chicks. Don't like what they say? Don't buy their things. Simple.

I think he did a serious disservice to the charity event. I'm certain people slowed their giving after he made that obviously stupid and mean-spirited political comment.

Sorry to dissapoint. I mean no evil.

He seemed nervous to be saying the things he said. He felt very strongly about it.

Ill-advised I'm sure, funny-as-all-hell, but yeah.. speak yo mind, nucca! (just maaayybe not at live major fundraising event)

Something funny about what he said? I found him to be just above retarded and pathetic, but mostly a racist, mean-spirited, uneducated, thug who has no idea of what he speaks.

That talentless idiot should use the music to express his feelings instead of talking about the bling bling and b*tches the music has given him.

Something like this would be a better way of delivering the message:

Excerpt from Letter to the President by 2pac:

Heavenly Father may I holla at you briefly
I wanna meet the President, but will he meet me?
He's scared to look inside the eyes of a Thug ni**a
We tired of bein scapegoats for this capitalistic drug dealin
How hypocritical is Liberty?
That blind bi**h ain't never did s**t for me
My history, full of casket and scars
My own black nation at war, whole family behind bars
And they wonder why we scarred, thirteen lookin hard
Sister had a baby as an adolescent, where was God?
Somewhere in the middle of my mind
is a ni**a on the tightrope, screamin let him die
Can't lie I'm a thug, drownin in my own blood
Lookin for the reason that my momma's strung out on drugs
Down to die, for everything I represent
Meant every word, in my letter to the President
Flame away.

To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged;- and verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid

btw, I love everyone saying he's talentless. and everyone cursing and getting upset. Like he just spoke bad about your grandfather.

Kanye is the biggest producer in hip hop right now. His newest album is also on top of the commercial hip-hop heap.

Just sayin'.

Sounds like me during my High School speeches. As I listened to myself speak nothing seemed to make sense.

As for Bush not liking black folk, I saw him hugging 2 nice cuties on CNN in Mississippi. They were both crying and one had her head on his shoulder. In fact I saw it about 20 times as it was shown over and over again on various news programs.

Quite touching really.

Ah, the desired results, manifest already.

I found it quite empty, considering it was a photo-op and nothing more. Look for more to come.

13th of September 1996.

And being Captain Obvious you seem to seriously fail in reading what I post. It was an example of using the music for the political message instead of using the music for the bling bling and b*tches which is the only thing that is rapped about today (on the commercial side of hip hop and rap).

Since you are probably quite ignorant of the history of 2Pac (except the bad stuff) I'm just gonna say that it all depends on your perspective.

Kanye's remark was inadequate. As far as not caring for people goes, Bush makes no discrimination between races.

The phrase "alot of truth is said in jest" comes to mind.... You have made numerous inappropriate assertions and comments, yet only later label them non-serious. You don't see color when you see a person. Just when you hear their name, their dialect, their choice of music, and now their political viewpoints....lol

Or would i make you more comfortable if i phrased it as "your not keepin it real dogg" ? Whats up with that? This will allow you to remain in your shortsighted view of the world, along with the continual perpetuation of stereotypes. Im out

It's not back people, it's poor black people. Jeez Kanye, get it right.

Unless Bush loves them so much he wants to make more and more and more of them.

Which is exactly what has happened over the last 4 years.
