Having more members is probably a good thing for MacNN. More members or posters = larger audience for advertisers and more people who may click on advertisers' ads.
Also, as far as THIS lounge and the P/L are concerned, the more posters there are the greater the refinement and crosspollination of thought.
If you watch talk shows you have probably seen examples of nationally recognized "experts" who don't have as solid a grasp of current events or subjects as even some of our casually7 active posters.
I think if MacNN mounted an ad campaign to become THE #1 online forum of decision makers they/it/we should issue challenges from you/me us/we the posters directly.
For example:
Bill Maher, you are a funny dude but you were WRONG about the NOLA situation and if you want to talk about it, I'm here.
