What did you expect ?
That the first iTunes phone would be a high-end smart phone with all the bells and whistles ?
Come on, we knew better...

No but I was expecting something better than what Sony and others has been offering for a long time.

The damn thing even has the style of a phone from a year ago.

I'm glad I bought my SE W800i when I did instead of waiting it out for this. While I do like the phone and think it's a step in the right direction, it's also disappointing for obvious reasons.

And what colour is it?
Yep. Silver.

despite the looks of it and the storage size I just bought one, I needed a new phone, generally only listen to audio books on my commute..

you can ONLY get this through cingulars online store with a 2 year agreement right now, you can't even call an order it.

I know this thing has an SD card, anyone know how large it is? (can't find that anywhere) I would be willing to bet that you can put larger cards in but it is software limited to 100 songs, wonder how long that will last

Mobile phones with iTunes manufactured by Motorola accept TransFlash memory cards.
Is TransFlash the same as SD?

This shows how unique Apple is; when they have to collaborate with other companies, the other company pulls down the original vision and compromises. Apple keeps it going until the concept is great.

Seriously, no Bluetooth? and such a small amount of memory? Count me out this round.

I thought I read it has bluetooth, but BT can only be used for phone calls, not playing music.

Easily store up to 100 songs with included microSD memory card

I wonder if that will be able to be changed. If so that would ROK.

Just noticed this on the Cingular site for this phone: Removable microSD memory card (microSD memory card must be installed in the device in order to use iTunes) That means if you can get larger sized SD cards it should technically work and store more music.

You know the cycle:

Next up will be the "black" phase for a couple of years, followed by (blech) champagne.

I'll have to disagree with you that Cingular Sucks. I've had great service with them since I've had them. It's actually gotten better since they bought AT&T. Their Customer Service is great too. Well at least for the things I've dealt with so far.

AS for the iTunes Phone. I'd have to see it in person first to make a decision on how "craptastic" it is.

"Nope. The phone includes a removable 512MB Flash memory chip (found under the battery in the back of the phone). This chip will hold up to 100 tracks but the number of songs it holds isn’t dependant strictly on the size of the chip (though it obviously can’t contain more than 512MB of data). Rather, the 100 track limitation is part of a DRM scheme that prevents the phone from playing more than 100 tracks.

iTunes 5 keeps track of the number of tracks authorized for playback on the phone so even if your 100 tracks have used only 350MB of the card’s capacity, you can’t add more. Similarly, although you can swap in a new card that contains new tracks, those tracks won’t play until they’ve been approved for playback by iTunes."

You could get a RAZR and a Nano and it'd probably still take up less space than the ROKR (and be a whole lot nicer, to boot)
