Black. I love the black.
But what I really want a 20gig iPod in black but none of the U2 price premium or red wheel, since my music library, while not huge (about 7gigs) won't fit on a nano.

That pocket is for your hotel key.
For some reason, I wish the black one had a grey wheel like the white one. That would be extra hot!

Black. Black is the new white in terms of gadgets. This will go very well with my PSP and my black v3.

I had a hard time deciding, but I've decided on Black. Now I have to figure out what I want engraved on the back and then I'll place my order.

iPods are white. Period. .....except the U2 iPod. That's black and it's pretty cool. But for me, iPods are white. And I'm getting one of each.

I always thought the 5th pocket was originally for a pocket watch?

White.
But the black one looks so much better than the U2 iPod... the black scroll wheel rocks.

I am getting one of each. One for me, one for my sis.
At first I thought 2 whites but since the PSP a nice glossy black is sexy.

It's interesting that the poll is suggesting that Black is 3 times more popular than white, because I read an article that suggested that the availability of the black ipod was a third of the white.
Another Apple marketing ploy to fuel demand for the new iPod nano? When it gets to XMas are we going to have people fighting over that last black ipod?

... i saw 'em both. early on i thought a discreet black would be just the thing, but i saw some scratches on the black that stood out. no biggie.
what ruined it for me was dust. dust and lint on a white one is pretty invisible. dust on a black one shows. every damn particle glares at you (or atleast it glared at me.. i swear .. hostile glaring)..
basically dust really really stands out. the white looked clean, but the black one just looked nasty. i guess it's like a black car. keep it perfect and it'll look great. 80 percent of the time, it'll show waterspots .. err dust...
anyone wanna do a nano tube buy in? since i dont need all 5 colors? i hate how i have no case for mine .. i'd hate to scuff it. my 3g ipod is still perfectly scuff/scratch free.

I guess I would get the white one. It's the classic iPod color, and I like it. I just have to admit to myself that I don't need my whole 12 GB holding library with me and that a nano is much better to handle than a 20 GB 4G iPod...
PS: This poll is missing the funny choice.

bought the white one today. stayed loyal to my vote
don't get me wrong, the black is gorgeous. apple did well on both. the one guy before me holding both nanos took ages to decide. (he finally bought the black one). but myself, i just prefer the white one.
go hold the nano, it's awesome. i've never been this excited about an ipod before (i've had one of each from the 3g to now)

The next time I buy a powerbook will be next year when the intel chips are inside. Apple had better get back to making black powerbooks by then.

Well, I ordered mine last night. I had a hard time decideing on the text. I finally decided on my name and phone number.
I hope that wasn't a mistake.
I almost went with a some "|". Like "|||| ||| ||||| ||||| || ||||" on the second line.

White – the black looks better as-is, but with the inevitable collection of scratches and dust, it’ll show all of that more than a white iPod will. And hey, my iMac is white, so they need to match.
That said, I have a 4th-gen 20GB iPod with my name engraved on the back, so it looks like I won’t be getting a nano anytime within the next few years…

I liked the colors of the iPod mini. But I did not buy one because I already have a 5 GB iPod. Only 6 isn't worth the upgrade.
Downgrading to 4 with a boring decision between blck or white? Never. Want back the colors and more memory, at least 8 or 10GB.

Well, I went down to the local Apple store (3 miles down the road) and I looked at both the black and white. I decided to cancel my online order and buy one right there. I boght a white one. My canceled online order was for a black one with engraving.
The white one looks a little better, and it will not show scratches as easily.

I forgot to mention, I like it.
I did have one disapointment. I am not able to use my firewire to ipod cable that I got with my previous 40GB iPod.

So how's your original 5GB iPod? I have the 10GB iPod (2G, touch-wheel) since Aug/2002, then the 512MB shuffle in Feb/05 (sold to my friend last month), and now the iPod nano (4GB, black).
Although, it sounds like a downgrade in storage and my library is 28GB, I still think it's worth to get the iPod nano IMHO.
About the poll, so far 100 people voted and 75% of them picked the black.

I initially picked white. However, when I went to the Richmond Apple Store to buy one, I decided to compare them in person. They both look great. It was going to be a hard decision, but they told me they were already sold out of the 4-GB black. That made it easy.

I'm with Rickey -- I'd get the other one besides white since my Shuffle and 15GBer are the other one besides black.

It still does a great job. I use it every couple of days (when I walk in the office) and listen to audiobooks (mostly). The battery is fine (>5 hours) and I still like the look. Looks a little baroque in the meantime and because I use a neopren sleeve it looks like brand new.
The weight is alright although 1/4th would indeed be an upgrade.
