I did a quick search on Froogle and the like. A 4GB USB thumb drive from SanDisk is over $350. From other notable companies they're closer to $170 with rebates. I found some generic brands for as low as $130 after rebates.
The iPod nano makes a reasonably priced USB thumb drive... AND it's an MP3 player with a full color screen and clickwheel!
