What about Mouser? www.mouser.com

Or All Electronics (www.allelectronics.com)?

I've used both.

Small quantity? ICs? Call up National Semi or Fairchild and request some engineering samples.

I wish I had a local parts store again.

I used to be able to drive 15 minutes and file 1% tolerance metal film resistors.

Check out hosfelt. Their website is not so good, but request a catalogue.

I've never been that lucky. I've relied on ordering from jameco or going to the local radio trash

I have bought from Mouser, Digikey and Newark with no problems.

Other suppliers I know are:
http://www.arrow.com
http://www.alliedelec.com

I know these two physical stores in Florida:
http://www.atlantic-electronics.com/index.php
http://www.sarasota-electronics.com/

And of course, there is Radio Shack !!!

Any specific category of electronics that you need?

my god-daughter has to do a science project. last year it involved mold on bread. whoopie. but this year, I'm in the game. ha. gonna keep it simple. solar and wind power generation. I've got tons of stuff, but I'd rather have kits so she can put it together by herself (yea right) but it's cool that she's interested. I'm gonna help make my god-daughter into a little NERD.

as for the sarasota site. I'll check it out when I go home. thanks

oh I call it Radio Trash (Radio Shack)

Discovery's science store will have solar and wind kits too; as will most science museums.

Avoid radio **** like the ****ing plague... I have never seen worse parts!

I like DigiKey... been ordering from them for years. You do want a copy of their print catalogue however.
Also, I go to my local electronics shop for some things - "You Do It Electronics" in Needham, MA

Don't try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

Quick note for the UK folks on the subject of electronic component supply: Don't order stuff via mail from Maplins - they're horrendously retarded when it comes to delivery (I ordered six Zip disks, two months later forty Zip disks turn up). Their shops are OK, but if they don't have what you want and say they'll put it on mail order for you just walk away.
