Microsoft should move the designers of their new web sites to the Windows Vista UI design team. They're quite tasteful.

The basic version is, yes. I've got a pro account for $24 a year. Worth it for me.

Nice website design crash log...looks very cool.

On a side note, i think someone aught to document and publish(on the web) the similarities between OSX and Vista. (or even go further and showcase the similarities between Macintosh and Windows in general)....both 'look and feel', technologies and services(iTMS vs M$ music store), along with release dates, etc. We could/should try it as a community project as well...like having MacNN host it and we contribute to the admins who filter the informantion and present/publish it.

Would be a nice to shut the disillusioned fanboys up.

Cheers.

Microsoft dot max. How long before they charge $99 a year for it?

Pitiful ripoff.

And the automator-like dude, my god. Do they have no shame?

I'm thinking more along the lines of "creepy uncle that nobody talks about".

I tryed the app on my PC at work, and the 'photo layout' system for the individual slides is quite cool. Far better than the simple restrictive structure you can layout your photos in iPhoto.
In fact now I think of it the way the photos 'slide around', shuffle and resize is very 'Apple like'.

Apple should definately have a look at some of these 'features' for the next iPhoto.

AWESOME comic.

But yeah, MS is being totally sameless as far as UI ripoffs... this what I have so far...

Transparency (it was in early versions of OSX, no? this would be before I hade the $ to switch, so I cant say for sure)
Aqua-esque shiny glass buttons--see the start menu and back/forward buttons in Vista's IE.
Aqua-esque brushed metal--seen in the next MS Office; just in time for BM to be yesterday's style.
Gadgets--ridiculous! just plain ridiculous!
Search Icon--iirc, exactly like spotlight, flipped on X axis.
...And finally, this "Max" thing's icon...*rolls eyes*

But I believe someone mentioned the design on the MS Max site--I would agree it is nice. Kudos, MS, you found someone that will design good sites for you. If only you could do the same in the UI dept...

"In a world without walls or fences, what need have we for windows or gates?"

iPhoto is okay but it feels ancient and unresponsive. I'm sure Max will feel the same way in 2 years when they stop updating it.
