I came across a few odd songs on the radio today that I really wanted to be able to listen to anytime I wanted-songs like "Day After Day" by Badfinger. So I started searching for the album that has that song on it. It's out of print. The compilation "The Very Best of Badfinger" is around, but it has like 20 songs and I only really like three or four of them. Not worth $18+... While poking around I remembered other holes in my CD library; I only have a couple of Elton John albums, and none of his really early stuff-I don't have "Caribou," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" or "Honky Chateau." In fact, I was reminded that a lot of music I'd LIKE to have is not in my library.
I also started looking for some other music, like "Weapon of Choice" by Fatboy Slim. I can't even find that relatively recent CD online.
There are a lot of stores around that sell CDs, but their selection is either a LOT of about three brand new albums, or one or two of each of three million that I've never heard of.
So where do folks find music that isn't "top 40" or otherwise VERY fresh?

You need to sign up at yourmusic.com. All three of the artists you mentioned are on there. Basically, they send you a CD each month for $5.99 (with free shipping). You set up a queue so you get the things you want. You can also buy an album at any time. Although only single CDs can be added to the queue, their double albums are $11.98, which is pretty great. They don't have everything, but the selection is very good. You can cancel whenever you want. I'm a very satisfied customer (so much so that this might sound like spam).

Is this a trick question? They have that song on iTunes... and that's where I buy my music... or at Blessings but mostly iTunes.

It is, but it's better. Again, there's free shipping and you don't have to buy one (or 6) of their CDs at "regular" (read: exorbitant) club price. Although those clubs (particularly BMG) are still a good deal overall, those are the two areas where they get you.

Its a part of BMG, just with a different model (Free shipping, one a month@5.99) seems like a good deal. They have the whole major Zeppelin Catalogue, along with a bunch of stuff you might have wanted to buy, but never got around to.

As far as Badfinger, they are on the iTMS. And you can buy per song.
It's dodgy but it's "legal" so far, and I'd suggest paypal over credit card, but you could peruse allofmp3.

Amazon.ca/com/co.uk, through their affiliate stores. In fact, I finally found an album put out in 1991 by a guy called "Sci-Fi Witchdoctor" that I hadn't been able to find anywhere in person or anywhere else. One guy had a used copy for $8.00, and I ordered some other new album from him as well to make the shipping more worth it.
Ordered on the 5th, it arrived at work yesterday.
I also to searches through www.gemm.com and have ordered rare CDs through www.eil.com with great success.

It is not legal for Americans to d/l from allofmp3. Dunno about other countries, but I wouldn't be surprised if they worked out the same way.
