It was on the back page of the Globe Toronto section of the Globe & Mail.

In classic Apple style, it was just the picture of a hand holding up the nano and then all black around it, and then two small lines of text at the bottom. I'd say about 75% of the page was just empty blackness.

The full court press for the nano is on... Now if they'd just advertise a Mac this way...

Amen. Advertising OS X that way would be helpful as well!

Like in the Good Old Days when Apple used to advertise Macs and Mac OS 6 & 7 in high profile magazines. Back when marketshare was over 25%... those were the days

Or full blackness, if you run the web press.

The Mac has never had over 16% market share.

Note that the Mac is not to be confused with the Apple II, which were not compatible with each other.

I think after the switch to Intel is done Apple will prolly start pushing Macs heavily again. Until then they'll prolly hold back due to potential confusion.

OK, a little off topic here but have any of you been watching the
Apple discussion boards about the nano?
Seems they're mostly riled up that it scratches rather easily.
Crap; was going to give my hubby my iPod and get a nano for me.
He's bigger and has bigger pockets; and the shuffle just never appealed
to me. The nano looks like something from the lego podbric guy;
only cuter.

if you're worried about scratches get a mini while you can. I've never gotten a single scratch.

I don't know what is it with Jon Ive and his inability to realize that people don't like having a sexy gadget after it's ubber scratched and no longer sexy!

Scratches are not exactly new to the iPod. I've got three, all different generations, and without the proper handling and care, they all will scratch very easily. For better or worse, transparent aluminium has not yet been invented (cue Wrath of Khan).

What do you mean, transparent aluminum has not been invented yet?

Yup, although there was more empty space vertically, and less horizontally. A couple lines of text were at the bottom of the page.

I can take a pic if you really want.

BTW, I saw a web ad a few days ago for OS X on AccuWeather.com but that's nothing compared to this iPod nano ad.

I would hope a massive ad campaign is planned when the Mactels come out.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

Yep there was one of these ads in the Telegraph the other day, a major broadsheet in Britain. As a broadsheet, that's a lot of black space - very striking.

Saw the TV ad on Saturday night (Uk), Just a tight shot of a hand waving it about, emphasising it's smallness. The best thing though it was followed by a Walkers Crisps (Leading Potato chip brand in the UK) ad advertising there latest 'Win an iPod Mini' Competition, that's running throughout September. So this competition is giving away a discontinued product? Looks like Apple UK wanted to get rid of loads of the old Minis before the Nano was introduced, bet they didn't mention to Walkers when there where setting up the give-away the fact that the Mini was about the be replaced.

I'm hoping so, too, as long as there aren't any logos or jingles at the end of Apple commercials.

Actually, the logos I can live with. Just not the damned jingle.
