This proves one thing and one thing only: Both consumers and developers are leaving the Mac platform. If you *still* don't see the truth of the matter after reading this news (which, by the way, was featured right here on your web site) I don't know what else will.

Mac the Ripper was bad UI — you couldn't even see any mouse buttons on it!

Handbrake was only useful for ripping movies to MP4, but it sucked if you wanted to copy a full DVD. Unless that changed somehow. MTR was fantastic for copying DVDs.

It also got around any copy protection that Handi could not.

Mirrors are still up and it seems that 2.66 was the last version. They also plan to move to another host as well. They dont seem to be going away as soon, as Macrovision would hope.

Too bad DVDBackup seems to have stopped updating as well, and doesn't work with Tiger.

Good job I just downloaded the software in question (just to annoy Macrovision).

This is lame.

MTR rocks. I'm just glad I have a copy (2.65) installed and one on in my backup.

I know of sites hosted all the way in India that have still been taken down by fraudulent DMCA threats.
