New York City's most famous gay penguin couple has split up.

Even worse, one of them has taken up with a female penguin new to the Central Park Zoo (search), the New York Post reports.

Silo and Roy, two male chinstrap penguins (search) native to the South Atlantic, made local headlines six years ago when they came out with their same-sex relationship.

Since then, the pair have successfully hatched and raised an adopted chick — after trying to incubate a rock — and become role models for six other same-sex couples among penguins at the zoo.

That all ended when Scrappy, a single female newly arrived from SeaWorld in San Diego, caught Silo's eye.

"Silo and Roy stopped spending as much time together or building a nest," said John Rowden, curator of animals at the zoo.

Silo promptly moved in with Scrappy, building a new nest with her. Zookeepers were at a loss to explain Silo's sudden conversion.

Geez, you should have mentioned the guy from Australia who is going to amputate a finger to improve his football game (more like rugby than soccer in Australia). Now that is some cray sh!te.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

That's my guess. As soon as some female smell started coming his way he was on it like flies on poop.

I always wanted such a experiment to be tested on said "gay" animals to see what would happen.

Now we know.

If such an experiment was ever to take place, I knew it would be in West Virginia.

NY looks like it was more a matter of nature taking it's course- I was envisioning your work to at some point involve the statement "honest judge, I was just helping that penguin over the fence."

For the record, this is not a jab at you personally- it's my duty as a Virginian to make bestiality jokes about West Virginia whenever possible. It's in our state constitution.

So does that mean the gay people now, will eventually go to females and that would be nature taking its course?

I was told these penguins were a PERFECT example of how homosexuality in nature was happening. That those penguins wouldn't WANT any females.

It looks as if these penguins were just prison gay.

I was envisioning your work to at some point involve the statement "honest judge, I was just helping that penguin over the fence."

How bizarre.

Well a good bit of W. Va. is south of a good bit of Va- it's West, not North Va.

And I'm about as north as you can get. But the reality is Va is full of backwards, redneck, cousin-marrying slack-jawed yokels. I think we bust on W. Va. out of insecurity as much as anything.

But I'm not sure about your premise. Perhaps it's no longer a shining example of pure homosexuality, but it's a pretty strong argument for bi-sexulaity. And I don't think "prison gay" applies as I believe there were females around if they wanted them.

There wasn't females around I believe. And animals have ALWAYS been "bisexual" meaning when the urge sets it, they don't CARE what they are humping, make, female, trees, bushes, pillows, etc.

Of course animals do other things like eat their young, eat poop, murder, etc.

That doesn't suddenly make a strong arguement for humans to do such a thing.

When one takes the actions of beasts of the wild to justify our own actions, something has gone terribly wrong.

Sigh, It would be nice to get the fact right, no? There were always available females around the two 'gay' penguins. For whatever reason they preferred each other's company. No idea if that makes them gay, confused or if they just don't care.

So, were these gay penguins actually banging each other or were they just friends?

It makes them animals that don't care. It doesn't make them gay, straight, or confused. Just like every other wild animal on this planet.

I've seen dogs hump pillows. Does that mean they are into plushies? No, that means they are into anything they can rub against.

Please clarify something for me.

Are you comparing homosexuals to wild animals? Or just saying that they "are into anything they can rub against"?

Of course not. I am actually saying making such comparisons is silly.

I am saying ANIMALS are.

No "secret" or "hidden" meaning in my post I assure you.

Humans engage in same sex activities for the same reasons all living beings do, - attraction.

There really isn't a whole lot more to it. It's not a black and white issue...never has been, never will be.

Oh, and Jesus was gay.

Have you been touched by his noodly appendage?

So are you saying my dog was attracted to my pillow? Odd, I must not have seen it that way...

So it was the pillow's fault for being so damned sexy.

Oh, and Jesus was gay.

This must be what kmkkid was talking about above.

OK, just one more question (I hope).

When you talk about animals are you including the animal often called "humans" in that group?

Again, my posts aren't cryptic.

When your mom said "Lets go to the Zoo and see the animals!" did you picture humans behind cages?

I always told her that humans are also animals. After that she usually just said "Lets go to the zoo and see the --my favourite animal at the time--!".

But thanks for the answers. I was curious about what you meant.

Just for the record though, usually when peopel refer to animals they aren't talking about humans.

Else animal crackers would be pretty sick.

That's true. It's just when you are a biologist you look a bit different on that.

Of course, But this really has nothing to do with the topic in hand.

Are you irritated Zimph? Perhaps you should take some time off just to get into a better mood.

It did have to do with the topic at hand as it was important to understand if you were talking about animals or animals other than the human.

. If only it would show in your posts more.

And no, no it didn't. Because my post was clear.
It had to do with why I had to ask you what meaning the word "animal" has to you. Did I make you insecure by that? If so I apologise.

More projection. Not insecure so much as annoyed because you thought you were being cute by derailing.

Just like you are trying to now.

Congratulations. You are still just being annoying.
