Just incase anyone missed it.
Apple's the only company to have placed two products in the list since it debuted in 1995. They took #1 spot with the iPod, and the #8 spot with the iMac.
Sorry, James, Microsoft's superior products didn't place.

The iMac is No. 8. Some digital camera is No. 9.

I generally don't like CNet, but that's actually a pretty good list.

It is truly bizarre not to have DVD players on the list.
And for a game, I would have put Quake III: Arena on the list. I can see why they chose The Sims though.

Apple described as using the iMac to add style and functionality to features and power? Heh, James will probably never even visit c|net again. I can hear him now, " yeah well they just need to realize the truth and get out of the sandbox!! MSCE!! AHHHH!!!!oneooneelventy-one!"

I'll say! I'm very impressed. The top 4 are basically perfect. I'd probably switch #5 Firefox with #8 iMac, but it's still a very well thought-out list. I suppose the iTMS could've bumped The Sims... DVDs have exploded in the last ten years, but I don't think there was one single player or disc that fueled that.

James is sort of the new (but dumber) Kelly Hogan. People miss him when he's not around to get beaten up.

I have both, and I have to say that Tivo is bigger than the iPod.

I definitely think TiVo is the best invention, but the influence and dominance of the iPod push it to the top.

I lived it... I give a little extra credit for those that stuck it out during the dark days...
Sure you have an iBook and an iPod... but try paying 3X as much for hardware 1/2 as fast... with a software selection that was falling apart. 1996-1997 were hard years.

With any luck the lack of MS products will make the MS fanboys who always post at C|net leave.
Ah.... anyone remember C|net when it was pretty much a TV show? Those were the days....

I remember the announcement at Fry's Electronics that they were no longer going to carry Macintosh software.

True I respect those people. Sadly I only got into it in 99. But I knew OS 8.6 like the back of my hand dang it! And I was in grade 10 at the time so it's not as if you could have expected me in much earlier.
