Since you guys don't really listen to the truth coming from outside your Mac fanaticism sandbox, here is the article MacNN site posted. You guys are in for steep uphill battle. Be ready to jump ship before it's too late.
--------------
Column: Apple must take Vista seriously
The "real power" of the Windows platform has always been tied to the support from the developer community, explains Rob Enderle of TechNewsWorld. And this year, developers are "more excited than I have seen in years" about Windows Visa, Microsoft's next-generation operating system. Enderle says for Apple to hold its ground, it must take Vista seriously. "Windows Vista is the biggest release for Microsoft since Windows 95. With that release, Apple was tested -- and they failed miserably. I was at Dataquest at the time and not only did I warn Apple to take 95 more seriously, I also accurately forecast the massive decline that would happen to them if they didn't do just that." Apple will be positioning its Intel-compatible Mac OS X against Vista and "they have about 12 months to prepare for the threat," the article states. "Just like the last time, they will largely leverage hardware this time, and, as before, they will be up against companies with resources that eclipse their own."
--------------
Now, that's not even something I wrote. It's an expert at TechNewsWorld, one of the foremost authorities in the IT industry. Vista is going to be HUGE, and Apple is going to have a huge blow. Jump ship before it's too late.

thats cool. I'll just install leopard. Troll yourself away
I think Vista will do really well, cause all the people with XP hate XP.
Mactel will be ruler, it will be able to run any OS it wants.

Well duh. Nothing new has been release by Micro$oft for years. The Mac developers have had new toys to play with every 20 months or so since the year 2000.

Not to sound like an Apple fanboy, but everything I've ever said about Enderle is consistently pro-Microsoft. All he ever does is slam Mac & Linux alike with his "opinion."
Why don't you post something about that Symantic article warning Mac users about viruses? I'd sooner believe that Macs weren't secure from an article by security software makers than anything from Enderle or Dvorak.

James has very few career options that don't lead to a dead end job.
I am glad james likes windows. He will have a lot of time on his hands in the future to play with it so it works right. Maybe this will fill up his days so he feels like he is accomplishing something. I am glad I am not james.

Actually James, I have decided that you have decided that brapper wins. Sorry, it's the end of the debate. Since I know that you know that brapper wins, there really is nothing you can say or do to convince me otherwise. Sorry pal.
Oh.. and everyone else also knows that you know that brapper won.
Anyways, it's not quite the same as Windows 95. The market share is already rather small compared to Windows. To Mac users, Vista is just going to be another operating system. There is lots of brand loyalty, and this idea among many users that Apple is the best option for their needs. I can only see this hurting the expansion of Apple's market share (at least in the PC market).
Edit: I added a wink.

I'm not sure whether this was a deliberate act or not, but James was obviously dropped on his head when he was a baby boy. There exists not too many other reasonable explanations for his sheer stupidity and apparent jealousy. From a psychological perspective one should ask what force drives a windows person to constantly visit a Mac only forum simply to post trollish garbage. I think windows sucks big time, but you sure won't find me wasting my time at any windows forum for any reason whatsoever.
It is also apparent that James has a deep rooted hatred for all things Mac. Perhaps a Mac user with a superior penis shagged and stole his girlfriend back in the day. Yes, size does matter and James was probably the kid who was ashamed to shower with the other boys after gymclass. Perhaps he has always envied Mac computers but could never afford one on his Duncan Donuts salary. James would be the dude sweeping the floor. He is not even qualified to make munchkins, let alone critique anything at all having to do with computers.

Actually, Leopard will kill Tiger. Will Vista kill Leopard? That remains to be seen. Your ridiculous appeal to authority, however, is not convincing, nor is the article. Some choice bits:
And this year, developers are "more excited than I have seen in years" about Windows Visa, Microsoft's next-generation operating system.
Unless I'm mistaken, Enderle has said this every time Microsoft has made any new OS releases at all, which are in fact "years" apart. Of course developers would be excited; they're that way on the Mac side too, whenever Apple makes a new release. In other words, Enderle is stating nothing but a truism.
Enderle says for Apple to hold its ground, it must take Vista seriously. "Windows Vista is the biggest release for Microsoft since Windows 95.
One: If Enderle thinks this is Microsoft's biggest release since Windows 95, then he is so incompetent that your trust in him once again proves your non-"expert" status. Microsoft's biggest release since Windows 95 was Windows XP: the switch from the junk MS-DOS architecture to the XP architecture, which is only junk because Microsoft doesn't bother using it effectively.
With that release, Apple was tested -- and they failed miserably. I was at Dataquest at the time and not only did I warn Apple to take 95 more seriously, I also accurately forecast the massive decline that would happen to them if they didn't do just that."
You know, what exactly does he mean by "taking 95 more seriously" and "taking Vista more seriously"? Do you mean surrendering to cheap-over-good, as Microsoft does all the time? Well, I guess Apple is doing that -witness the switch to Intel- so they're playing right into Enderle's hands. What more does he want? For them to act even more like Microsoft's R&D department by giving Microsoft new ideas to rip off?

OK this is what my friend said about Vista, he is a computing lecturer at the local college and is responsible for the upkeep of a few rooms full of PC's -
Windows Longhorn/Vista looked good when it was first shown, and had lots of good cool features, but most of those have been taken out as the builds have gone on, and what is left is basically Windows XP v1.5, not that new apart from the jazzy interface and not all that great.
If that is what is said about it by a computing lecturer who HAS to use Windows as part of his job, then I still feel pretty safe using OS X thanks. Awww now I've got poo on my face, ah well.

You of all people have no right to accuse anyone of not being able to argue. My five-year-old nephew could argue rings around you. At least he knows what an appeal to authority is, and why it's bad argumentative technique.

Since PeeCee users only KNOW about PeeCees, they aren't telling you anything of value. The UNIX environment has been out and working, and being improved for 30 years, so it has very few bugs or vunerabilities. MS is still hammering away at over 10 thousand holes, bugs, and sloppy high school level code. They can't get a release out on time and the level of sophistication of the average PeeCee user is somewhat lower than the UNIX, LINUX, Mac community. They STILL refer tothe boot Drive as the "C Drive" and every virus writer looks for it. MS doesn't learn from mistakes but superficially looks at what Apple is doing and is trying to be like apple superficially. MS has always lacked scope and innovation. If it weren't for Apple, who would Microsoft steal from???
Gates/MS tried a media style gadget, the stupid watch thing, that went nowhere. So much for Gates iPod.
Tha writer is obviously blinded by glitz, and doesn;t understand what really makes an OS useful. remove all the 3rd party fixes and applications and Winders would be trash.

Playing Devil's advocate here, the only real reason is because OS X needed refined.
Now that it is rock solid and full of features, the releases will slow.

I noticed that. There are LEGITIMATE articles he could be posting. But he insists on posting tripe.
Which makes me believe he is someone's second account.

1) Dudar que + subjunctive
2) Mataré = I will kill.
So unless you plan on killing Tiger yourself, I'd suggest either matará or (better) vaya a matar. Unless of course you meant to write matare, in which case I salute you for use of the future subjunctive tense, which not even the Spanish would attempt to use
[/annoyingly pernickety language geek mode]
But no, yo también dudo que Vista vaya a matar el Tigre—o el Leopardo, si vamos a eso...

Because he's a good training dummy for real debating skills. You know he's going to say virtually the same thing every time he opens his mouth, so you can practice responding in different ways. He seems to have expanded his repertoire of fallacies somewhat since last time, which makes him even better to practice on. So we kick him around a little every time he posts another stupid thread.

Well I AM a PC user, AND a Mac user, AND a computer scientist. Microsoft's OSs have a history of being put together without regard to the structure of the parts used-basically they use modules that "have been working fine for years" without testing them in their new setting. That means their products are prone to having holes show up in them. That' the breaks when you don't spend the time and effort to prevent these problems.
Microsoft is still stuck on "backward compatibility" even though they don't do it very well anymore, so the "C:" drive is just what they do. However, if they bothered to look at suspicious activity, or integrated a real antivirus product into the OS, then it really wouldn't matter whether they called the boot drive "C:" or "Bob", or whatever. Oh wait, they've used "Bob," haven't they...
I've used many different OSs and by far the Mac OS X series have been the easiest to use and most stable (with the possible exception of 10.1). Some Linux distros are getting easier to use, but they haven't gotten close to Panther or Tiger and won't for a while.
So what's the point? Saying all PC users are dolts is as prejudiced as saying everyone with blue eyes is better than anyone with brown eyes. You certainly can't say that all Mac users are geniuses!

I've never seen people run away from an OS. I have never seen an OS kill another OS.
Apple is not underestimating what Microsoft is doing. Apple expects M$ to steal OSX's best features eventually. Which is why Leopard will ship right around Vista. M$ won't be able to steal those features (currently unknown) for a little while.

We're telling you, you're an idiot. Let me spell it out for you:
ORIGIN Middle English (denoting a person of low intelligence): via Old French from Latin idiota ‘ignorant person,’ from Greek idiōtēs ‘private person, layman, ignorant person,’ from idios ‘own, private.’

And sadly all Mac users arent genuises, a classmate at school asked me how to make a new folder on the pbook hes had for 4 months.
As far was we know he isn't really a Mac user. He's a PC user who comes here to tell us all how wrong we are and how much better Windows is.
He's what's usually referred to as a troll. Here is the definition of troll:

Well, they did steal quite a lot from NeXTSTEP, specifically the Dock (Windows taskbar), Recycler (recycle bin), and the "X" in the upper right corner of a window to name a few.

You've pretty much got it. James is what's called a troll, which is to say, someone who knowingly posts inflammatory material for the purpose of making people angry. My best guess is that he's a 13-year-old X-Box fanatic who recently learned the wonders of playing Dead or Alive: Extreme Beach Volleyball one-handed, and so he's using his newfound energy to try and annoy people. The only problem is, he isn't very good at it; his "arguments" are not (and cannot be) backed up with facts, and so debating him becomes trivial enough to almost be not worth the trouble.
Almost, that is. It seems to have been decided that he's useful to have around, and having heard the arguments the other mods have made, I agree. People vent at him instead of each other, and he's excellent as a target for practicing debating techniques: he just parrots the same thing over and over so you can work on responding to things in different ways. This is great for when we have to defend the Mac against actual MCSE-wielding IT departments. So we let him hang out here, and when he posts stupid crap like this we all kick him around a bit. If he were more disruptive we'd probably ban him, but he really doesn't cause enough trouble to be worth the effort, and all he really does is make us better at what we do. The hell of it is, he doesn't seem to have figured yet that if he really wanted to hurt us the best thing he could do is leave; then we wouldn't have anyone to practice on anymore.

"troll", incidentally, comes from "troll fishing", which is the art of dredging a net along the dirt bottom of a large body of water in hopes of catching something.
