I have just started a new website at http://www.studio450m.com set up as a place for young artists around London. The website gives updates on exhibitions currently in London, and has a forum where you can meet other artists and discuss whatever you feel like.
As it is very new, the community is small right now and would be great to have new users.
We are also looking for moderators and journalists! You do not have to be based in London in order to join the forum!

We have a new thing, it seems: polite spam, with actual content, besides just a link, and a normal user name, and an actual name at the end.

In light of this, I even visited the site linked to, and there was no malware, no pop-ups, no “BYU VIARGA NWOW!!11!11eleventybillionelevenhundrenandeleven links everywhere. It even looked nice (albeit a bit heavy on the dark purple, for my taste).

It is almost reluctantly that I call this spam. Maria — if you have anything to contribute to the community here (not necessarily Mac-related, but apart from self-plugging), feel free to do so. If not... well, then this thread will join a long list of spam threads.

(Why is my ending quotation mark followed by a space suddenly being turned into black diamonds with question marks in them? Someone messing with the text encoding settings?)

This thread is weird. First encoding weirdness, and now it still claims there are zero replies to it.

Hmm.. I would be much willing to join, and I do have some forum suggestions.

I think it would be very helpful to have an art college discussion forum where HS artists (such as myself) could discuss with artists College/Uni which colleges and universities around the world are good, which aren't so good, the pitfalls of being an artist in college, etc.

Also, once you get a larger number of members, art contests are always fun.

Most art forums have a section for WIP/Critique and Finished Work/Showcase sections, I think it would be very cool to see that here.

As for the site look, I think that the dark purple is a little high contrast. Also, the gray/black boxes left of the forum headings are well... not so cool, and I don't really like that flash thingie at the top. Lastly, having the CSS link mouse-over color white on a white background is a bad idea, imo. I don't mean to insult or offend, but I find that many artists (well, ok, mainly myself) like things that look nice, so I hope you don't take my critiques personally or as an insult.

Regarding to this being spam... normally I would say it is, but the site is not loaded with ads etc, and its not trying to replace the NN (come ON, what could do that??). That and the fact that many of us Mac users are artists... it makes sense. So I don't think I would really consider this spam, but it would definately help if OP was indeed a Mac user, (not that you aren't, I just don't know) and contributed in other MacNN forums.

Good Luck!
