OK, so everyone's just about seen the article where Jobs calls the RIAA greedy for wanting to price fix music.

“To have only one price point is not fair to our artists, and I dare say not appropriate to consumers. The market should decide, not a single retailer,” said Mr. Bronfman. “Some songs should be $0.99 and some songs should be more. I don’t want to give anyone the impression that $0.99 is a thing of the past.”
So Edgar Bronfman, Jr. (CEO of Warner Music) says that songs should be no-less than $.99, but some songs should be more! Not less than $.99, of course. He's unhappy with the $.75 of pure profit per song they're getting now. But after saying that "the market" should decide the price of the songs, he says that music shouldn't be less than $.99. Uh, if the market decided, shouldn't songs that aren't popular or "classics" that fewer people listen to be cheaper?

“We are selling our songs through iPod, but we don’t have a share of iPod’s revenue,” he said. “We want to share in those revenue streams. We have to get out of the mindset that our content has promotional value only.
Must be nice to conveniently substitute iTunes Music Store with iPod. Hey, moron, you're selling music through the iTMS, APPLE'S the one selling iPods. Why in hell should the RIAA be entitled to Apple's iPod sales?! That's like saying the oil industry should have a cut in Ford's auto sales, or that ink suppliers should have a cut in cash register sales.

“We have to keep thinking how we are going to monetize our product for our shareholders,” added Mr. Bronfman. “We are the arms supplier in the device wars between Samsung, Sony, Apple, and others.”
Oh, they want a cut from Apple's iPods but not from Sony's Walkman, or Samsung's flash players, or even radios or CD players. Oh no, no cuts from computers with CD-ROMs or CB Radios. Just iPods, and only from Apple.

This guy makes Microsoft look like Mother Teresa.

Here's some info on the two Edgar Bronfmans.

Edgar Jr. has been designated the movie industry's official idiot--a 42-year-old child who's squandering his family (and his shareholders') fortune on romantic Tinseltown fantasies

If they didn't like the deal, why did the RIAA keep signing up more countries to the iTMS? I say Apple stands firm in their stand.

I predict that while the music industry still whines about 99 cents, Televisa and a lump of Latin American record houses will sign with iTMS. It is because they can make more money with it?

I would say that the last A in RIAA hints that they have nothing to do with other countries.

Pretty unbelievable. I just hope that Steve and Apple hold their ground. To be truthful, I don't think the RIAA would pull out of iTMS, but I wonder what's going to happen.
